Gio Capaldi: I do love watching Moeen bat when he’s in this mood!

  3. Wor 122-1published at 12 overs

    Target 185

Difficult to control the ball in these cold, damp conditions and Briggs has sent down a waist high full toss, which is called a no-ball.

It's so tough to stop momentum when someone is hitting the ball so consistently out of the park like Moeen is.

    He's striking it so cleanly.

The ball just seems to be sliding on to the bat here at present.

Pace off the ball surely has to be considered by Luke Wright.

  8. Wor 109-1published at 11 overs

    Target 185

Wessels has been happy to be a spectator but he latches on to a wide from Jordan to cut a boundary, then adds another next ball when he jabs down on a yorker to bring up the 100 partnership, Moeen making 69 of them.

  9. Wor 94-1published at 10 overs

    Target 185

No wicket yet but a good opening over from slow left-armer Danny Briggs, no boundaries but there is something of a stunned silence from the home supporters after this massacre from Moeen. Now at the halfway stage the teams are level, Sussex were also on 94-1.

Luke Wright would love to get the boys back in together in the middle at the fall of a wicket.

Get a message across and get some composure across to them.

New ball number three please. Out of the ground again, bouncing off the old pavilion roof this time. My word Moeen looks good when he is in nick, one of the most mercurial players.

It's just absolute class from Moeen.

I don't think there's lot wrong with the delivery - he's just too good at the moment.

David Wiese will look back at that ball and wonder how it ended up being hit so far.

Oh my goodness this has gone even further, Moeen has hoicked Wiese over mid-wicket and it has bounced off a roof and into the streets of Hove, 95 metres they say. New balls please.

    Wor 71-1published at 8 overs

This one has gone out of the ground, and it has been retrieved from the gardens but Moeen has raced to fifty from 30 balls with five fours and three sixes.

What Moeen has done well is the same thing that Phil Salt and Luke Wright did earlier.

He's attacked that first ball of the over, which really takes the pressure off for later on.

  18. Wor 64-1published at 7.1 overs

Spin now with Will Beer and his first ball in the cool night air is short and pummelled to the mid-wicket rope by merciless Moeen.
