Handshakes and hugs between the two sides. All of the Thailand players are grinning. They know they have given a great account of themselves.

West Indies have the points on the board, but the team everyone talking about is Thailand. Their fielding has stood out.

  3. West Indies win by seven wicketspublished at 16.4 overs

    WI 80-3

Shemaine Campbelle sweeps for four to give the Windies a seven-wicket victory, but that only tells half the story.

Thailand have given the former champions a fright in Perth.

  4. WI 76-3published at 16.2 overs

Should Boochatham have made more of this? Taylor across the line, hit on the front pad, but barely an appeal. I reckon it would have been close.

  5. WI 75-3published at 16 overs

    Target 79

Dot ball. On we go, but the Windies have been given a fright.

  6. WI 75-3published at 15.5 overs

    Target 79

Left-armer Soraya Lateh comes back with her mixtures of cutters and little swingers. When the length is too short, Campbelle swivels on a pull to the long leg boundary. When the line is too wide, a thick edge goes to the the third man fence. Only four needed to win....

  7. WI 63-3published at 15 overs

    Target 79

Boochatam keeps her shades on to whizz down her whippy off-breaks. Taylor shows respect by defending on the front foot. Only one from it, but that's no problem for the Windies. It's wickets that would leave them in trouble.

Laomi has only gone for 14 runs in four overs, but Thailand need wickets - they needed to bowl West Indies out to win.

  9. WI 62-3published at 14 overs

    Target 79

It might be that the game. Leggie Laomi, so economical, is swept for four by Campbelle, with the Windies getting the runs required down to only 17. Laomi takes her cap with 0-14 from her four overs, but the Windies are on the brink now.

I don't know if Thailand are behind a little on time. I just saw the umpire, at the end of the over, give the captain Tippoch a little "hurry up" signal.

  11. WI 55-3published at 15 overs

    Target 79

Pressure released. Taylor sweeps hard for a boundary. West Indies have already found the fence six times, whereas Thailand only managed four fours. Remember the overturned lbw? That would have made it 27-4.

Laomi doesn't look as though she has a googly. It would be such a good string to her bow if she could develop one over the next 18 months. We saw how effective the googly was from Poonam Yadav yesterday.

  13. WI 48-3published at 12 overs

    Target 79

Laomi has a hold over Taylor here. Four dots balls, then even a full toss is hit straight to the extra cover fielder. A decent time to produce a maiden. 31 required from eight overs.

  14. WI 48-3published at 11 overs

    Target 79

Taylor is finally looking like the class act that she is. Four, two, pushing short balls through the off side. The chances of the upset are just starting to fade. They are playing Dancing Queen on the PA. Not my favourite Abba track, but still very catchy....

The awarding of T20 international status to all teams has been important for Thailand - their 17 wins in a row was a world record.

  16. WI 41-3published at 10 overs

    Target 79

You just wonder if, from the opposing point of view, this is the worst time to play Thailand. They are new, unknown, you're terrified of them making history. The Thai team are fearless too, not scarred by any big defeats. A rare misfield gives the Windies a single. Four from the over. Maybe the Windies have come through the storm.

Thought West Indies were a bit sloppy in the field at times. Can't say the same for Thailand. That sensational run out by Chaiwai sparked it all.

  18. WI 37-7published at 9 overs

    Target 79

Could captain Taylor be about to provide some much-needed composure to this West Indies chase? A short ball is carved to the third man fence for a nerve-settling boundary. Just I say that, the Windies take another needless single. Bizarre stuff. if they bat through, they win, yet they are taking unnecessary risks.

  20. WI 30-3published at 8 overs

    Target 79

Suleeporn Loami is on to bowl leg-breaks, almost an exact replica of Poonam Yadav, who ripped through Australia yesterday. Short, slow, variations. The required rate is above four an over. If Thailand can get that to five, the Windies task will be getting tough. The Thai fielding is very, very sharp.
