  1. WI 19-0published at 4 overs

    Target 79

Boochatham has changed ends, bowling her straight-breaks with the odd bit of away drift. Lee-Ann Kirby is swinging like a rusty gate, but getting very little bit on ball. There's a shout for lbw, denied. It looks to be missing leg stump, and Thailand, who can't be too familiar with DRS, keep the review in the pocket.

Thailand needed over 100, just for the mindset. West Indies can really get into their stride - I'd imagine they have a target of how many overs to chase this in, and I think they should be doing so within 12 or 13 overs.

  3. WI 17-0published at 3 overs

    Target 79

Ratanaporn Padunglerd with some medium pace, bowling to Lee-Ann Kirby, who is playing her first international for 12 years. Short single, then Matthews throws the bat at a wide one for a thick edge to the third man boundary.

I don't know how long Matthews and Kirby have batted together at the top of the order, but hopefully they can get a decent partnership together and stay there for the whole tournament.

  5. WI 10-0published at 2 overs

    Target 79

Soraya Lateh with left-arm spin. Strangely, she has played 14 previous T20 internationals, but never batted or bowled. Slingy, low arm, pretty tidy, until a wide last one that Matthews flays behind point for four.

Equal scores after the first over! How do we often see that first over not going for many runs?

  7. WI 2-0published at 1 over

    Target 79

Nattaya Boochatam begins with her off-spin, meaning she opens the bowling to follow up opening the batting. There's some drift away from the right-handers, and there might even be an edge off Kirby, but keeper Nannapat Koncharoenkai. There was a noise, but replays show it was bat on ground.

The Thai team huddle, cuddle, then head out to the middle. The Windies openers, Hayley Matthews and Lee-Ann Kirby - full of power - follow behind. It's grey in Perth, muggy.

Many thanks, Mitch. At one stage it looked like Thailand might get something competitive, but the Windies should gobble this up.

If they don't, what an upset that would be.

Teenage wicketkeeper Nannapat Koncharoenkai, 19, did her best to anchor the innings with 33 from 48 balls, but eventually perished with nine balls remaining:

West Indies' spinners put the squeeze on in mid-innings, with Hayley Matthews (1-12 from four overs) particularly miserly:

Let's quickly review the innings - Nattakan Chantam hit Thailand's first boundary in a major tournament, but the wickets started to tumble.

Thailand may not be happy with this total, but they'll have a smile on their face. Look out for their bow towards the ground at the end of the innings.

The running between the wickets was a real positive. We see so many teams get it so wrong. Apart from that one run-out late on, which we can forgive, they seemed to know when to go, and when to "no".

I saw a lot of positivity and good signs. The top three played straight, but the rest relied on slog sweeps. They have the intent, but not the power.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 20 overs

Laomi st Campbelle b Taylor 7 (Tha 78-9)

But there's no fairytale finish for Laomi as she's stumped off the last ball of the innings.

West Indies will have to score 79 to chalk up a victory in the "W" column.

  18. Tha 78-8published at 19.5 overs

Laomi has a bigger swing, it flies down to fine leg and it's the first Thai boundary since the first ball of the fourth over.

  19. Tha 74-8published at 19.4 overs

Thailand keep swinging, West Indies will be happy if they can only manage a single off each ball.

  20. Tha 72-8published at 19.2 overs

Laomi doubles her score with a single, Padunglerd takes guard for the first time and whacks a quick single to Aaliyah Alleyne at mid-off.
