You really need Dane van Niekerk to have a word with the bowler here. She's inexperienced and has to change something.

  2. Eng 8-0published at 0.4 overs

Mlaba's combined international bowling figures from her first five T20 games are 0-94 from 10 overs. So she's yet to take a wicket.

Her third ball is a juicy full toss which Amy Jones blasts back down the ground for four. Next ball is a bit better, but gets the same treatment from Jones - another lofted four!

Spin is a good plan from South Africa, especially to Danni Wyatt.

South Africa are opening with pace off the ball - teenage left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba. Here we go.

Danni Wyatt isn't much of a talker in the middle. She just wants to get on with it.

South Africa run out onto the outfield, with captain Dane van Niekerk absolutely sprinting out there at the front. England go with their usual openers Amy Jones and Danni Wyatt.

Ex-England all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special

Amy Jones and Danni Wyatt have both played very well on this ground before. It's probably better for them to play here than at the new Perth Stadium.

England have been out there a while, they will be used to these conditions, but Perth is hotter than anywhere else in Australia.

The anthem cuts out after the first couple of lines, but swiftly comes back - causing much amusement among the England players and support staff.

There's a smattering of Proteas shirts in the crowd, the fans singing along to the anthem. Time for "God Save The Queen".

David: Which ground are they on here? The old Waca with the treacherous wind? Or the new Waca (if that's what it's called)? Shabnim Ismail's going to be a handful if we're on the old ground.

It's very much the "old" Waca - not the new (enclosed) Perth Stadium.

National anthem time - South Africa's stirring, multi-lingual anthem up first.

England are under pressure after that loss to Sri Lanka. They will really be feeling it.

  14. Postpublished at 10:54 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

Players now walking out. It's nearly 7pm in Perth, no need for the mascots to be wearing protective sunhats as they were yesterday.

All Waca pitches generally have good pace and bounce. Last night we saw swing and it also turned when the bowling was slower. Maybe South Africa think there is a little weakness in the England batting.

Floodlights are on at the Waca. England and South Africa are waiting in a tunnel with flashing blue and pink lights, which Henry Moeran on TMS compares to a rather dodgy nightclub.

If I were South Africa, I'd have batted first and taken the chance to put England under the pump, so I'm surprised they're fielding.
