We're looking at a slightly un-Australian pitch. The conditions are pretty cold as well - the ground conditions favour New Zealand. I'd like to see the Indian batters getting through the new ball - can Shafali Verma change her game to adjust to the conditions?
In the air...but safe!
A cross-batted effort from Shafali Verma sails just over the ring of fielders in the offside before bobbling over the boundary.

Mandhana will take them on in the powerplay - teams need to pull that length back a bit, and cramp her up.
Rosemary Mair bowling back of a length to Shafali Verma, who nudges another single.
Smriti Mandhana then clubs Mair's second delivery over mid-off for her second boundary, she is warming to her task.
It's Rosemary Mair to open at the other end for New Zealand...

It's all about width here to Smriti Mandhana. Anything outside off stump is too wide, that's what makes her dangerous. That's her bread and butter, to put her hands through the ball.
No slip in place for Lea Tahuhu, Shafali Verma takes advantage by nudging it fine down to third man to get off the mark.
Then Smriti Mandhana frees her arms with a lofted drive into the offside for the first boundary of the afternoon!
A sign of things to come?
Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana can be so destructive at the top of the Indian order, will we see more fireworks today?
It's Verma to face the first ball, Lea Tahuhu ready to run in....

Sophie Devine is a new captain, she's taking responsibility and loving it. But she needs a couple to come with her. She's got the experience of Suzie Bates, but who are the next one or two young batters to come through in that side? If they can find them, the longevity of their side is very promising.
After a stirring rendition of the two national anthems, we are just about ready to go!

I didn't expect India to put one over on Australia in the opening game, I thought this was going to be the big game for them. Poonam Yadav was always going to make an impact, Shafali Verma has taken the pressure off Smriti Mandhana, and I don't think we've seen the best of Harmanpreet Kaur yet.
As the teams make their way onto the field, here is one last look at yesterday's action, as England secured their first win of the tournament thanks to a magnificent century from Heather Knight, while Pakistan shocked West Indies by eight wickets in their opening group game.
In case you wondering what all the fuss is about, here is Sophie Devine's match-winning innings for New Zealand against Sri Lanka.
Will we see a repeat today?

This is going to be the battle of the big match-winners, so I'm looking forward to seeing Sophie Devine and Shafali Verma.
Speaking of Shafali Verma, here are some of the best bits from her innings against Bangladesh on Monday as India made it two out of two.
There will be plenty of talent on show across both sides in Melbourne, including 16-year-old India opener Shafali Verma, who hit 29 from 24 balls against Australia before smashing 39 from 17 balls, including four sixes, against Bangladesh on Monday. The loopy leg-spin Poonam Yadav has also proven to be a threat, yielding seven wickets so far.
For New Zealand, look no further than captain Sophie Devine, who hit 79 from just 63 deliveries to set the platform for victory against Sri Lanka on Saturday.
And for New Zealand:
Sophie Devine (capt), Rachel Priest (wk), Suzie Bates, Maddy Green, Katey Martin, Amelia Kerr, Hayley Jensen, Anna Peterson, Leigh Kasperek, Lea Tahuhu, Rosemary Mair.
Here is how India are lining up:
Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Taniya Bhatia (wk), Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur (capt), Deepti Sharma, Veda Krishnamurthy, Shikha Pandey, Radha Yadav, Poonam Yadav, Rajeshwari Gayakwad.
