    Umpire Paul Wilson has just given an update - it will take an hour to get the field ready for play once the rain stops.

    The match needs to be under way by 10:20 GMT (21:20 local time) for there to be a five over per side game.

    So the rain needs to have ended for the evening by about 09:20 GMT for play to be possible.

    Welcome to live coverage of the ninth Big Bash League final between Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars.

    Much-needed (aside from cricket terms) heavy rain has been falling in Sydney all day and the outfield is sodden at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

    The bat flip has been delayed and it's still raining at the moment.

    If it stops soon there could be the chance of getting the minimum five overs per side game in.
