17 balls! Charles, you've had a shocker. Still, a tour match in Porto sounds nice? Lovely city.

I once went for 15 runs in a 17-ball over in a tour match in Porto. Still haven't lived it down, especially as I got a duck and had promised the lads I'd vanquished the yips.

Shannon Gabriel has got his radar right in the last few balls. It's been liquorice allsorts this morning. It has been laboured.
Sibley 87, Stokes 66
Poor Jimmy Anderson is running drinks down from the dressing room in a yellow vest. Surely he's overqualified for that?

With the ball swinging West Indies think they are in the game. But this partnership is worth over 130 you would take the new ball and do something different.
Well that's why Aggers and Sir Alastair are the experts. I thought Joseph was bowling well and West Indies should have taken the new ball.
Gabriel gets one on target and it hits Stokes' pad, showing he can be dangerous. There's an appeal but it looked to be missing leg stump.

Is Alzarri Joseph bowling too pretty without being threatening?
Jonathan Agnew
BBC cricket correspondent on Test Match Special
It looks like West Indies are hoping they get a breakthrough and can then expose a new batsman to the new ball. It's a perfectly legitimate plan if they get a wicket.
Why have West Indies not taken the new ball? I don't get it. Alzarri Joseph's radar is much more on target than Gabriel's. It has been a tidy start from him.

Tom: First and second slip might want to consider wearing pads and helmet while Gabriel is bowling.
Sibley 87, Stokes 65
Shannon Gabriel bowls another two that should have been called wides. He has just not got it right.
Have you ever had as similarly wayward days whether at work or on a cricket field?

Do you think Shannon Gabriel is just giving him catching practice for the one he dropped?
Jonathan Agnew

Oh my word, it's a Harmison! Another one!
After West Indies leave Manchester, you may see some grumpy reviews on Trip Advisor. I don't think Shannon Gabriel will be rushing back.
For the second time in the match he bowls a wide to second slip.
So much for that good start.

Ashley Giles' comments on Jofra are absolutely fair enough but making them public feels unnecessary. Risks alienating Archer when everyone knows what he's done is wrong. There's no real benefit of further laying into him in public.

Ben Stokes gets the first boundary of the day with a thick outside down to third man. That takes Stokes to 8,000 first-class runs.
His average just keeps on climbing too.
Alzarri Joseph is beginning proceedings from the Jimmy Anderson End. Jimmy would have been able to have a good lie-in this morning. What will his day in the bio-secure environment entail? More singing Coldplay songs?
Jonathan Agnew
BBC cricket correspondent on Test Match Special
That's a good ball. Shannon Gabriel looks to be on song this morning.
I'm surprised West Indies still haven't taken the new ball this morning, even if the old ball is swinging.
The noise from the slip fielders goes up another five notches when Shannon Gabriel zips one past Dom Sibley.
A good start from the big West Indies quick.
Alastair Cook

West Indies made a mistake not taking the new ball last night. As a batter facing just those two overs, something might have happened and it would have still been fresh this morning.
