Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
First-innings runs always puts the other side under pressure, especially with England's extra pace bowlers. But, if England lose a couple of quick wickets then they are in trouble.

It's a big hour for the West Indies with the second new ball. They need to break this partnership and then there's a big chance they can run through this extended tail.
Remarkably and happily, the rain that has hit other bits of Manchester this morning stayed clear of Old Trafford.
We're going to start on time!
Jos Buttler and Ollie Pope are striding out to the middle as the sun peeks through the clouds.
More from Buttler, on Ollie Pope: "I've been incredibly impressed, it was similar to me growing up watching Joe Root's development, he's similar to that, he's taken international cricket in his stride and bowlers have little margin of error with him, he's always looking to score."

Olly Monk: I was wrong about Buttler yesterday I really hope he gets to kick on & goes big.
England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, who will resume on 56 not out, talking to Sky Sports: "I think it was a good day in the end. Myself and Ollie managed to put together a good partnership and the emphasis is on us this morning to make that as big as we can.
"Naturally I've been fretting. Time in the middle gives you confidence and I think it's more about doing your job for the team and when you're not performing as you want to individually you're not doing it for the team too. I've definitely been feeling the pressure, I've been in the team long enough to know when you should be feeling pressure and hopefully how to deal with it.
"I've tried to shut out the noise and it's a big challenge of international cricket. Initially when I started it was understanding the media pressure but now with social media, I know it's there, I know people will have been talking about my game but it's not going to help me play better so I need to focus on myself and the processes that will allow me to play well."
Ian Bell 1.0 isn't done yet - he scored 63 including nine fours for Warwickshire in a friendly against Nottinghamshire yesterday, after missing the entire 2019 season due to injury.

The England boys have been playing football this morning. Watch those ankles, chaps.
Argh. It's worsened from a light shower to absolutely hammering it down over my house right now.
Here's hoping it's just moving over this part of Manchester and will avoid the Old Trafford area.
We gave you three options to vote for your play of the day yesterday:
And you went for....Cornwall's superb slip catch (all while wearing two hats).

You can spend all week looking at a weather forecast, seeing it change from mizzle, to drizzle, through cats and dogs, eventually to the point when you wonder where you might be able to find an ark. But you can't even depend on rain, and Emirates Old Trafford has been clear this morning, right up to the point when a filthy cloud has arrived just as play is due to begin. So far, it is holding. The moral of the story? If you want to know the weather, look out of the window.
So. The weather. It might be a bit on/off today.
The good news is a lot of the forecasted rain for today seemingly arrived last night.
And there is even a bit of sun and blue sky in between the clouds over Old Trafford.
But it's just started raining where I am, about 2-3 miles away from the ground.
Fingers crossed there should still be plenty of play today.

Hello and welcome to live coverage of day two of the third Test between England and West Indies at Emirates Old Trafford.
Ollie Pope guided England from a precarious position of 122-4 on day one to a strong one of 258-4 at the close, ably abetted by Jos Buttler.
Pope will resume on 91 not out, with Buttler unbeaten on 56, as England will look to bat big and bat once to put the tourists out of the game.
And remember - whoever wins this one, wins the series.
Ian Bell 2.0?
England's best prospect since Joe Root?
Or just a young talent quickly growing into his own man?
Ollie Pope looks the real deal.
