I'd like to see that little red machine, the light meter, blown up.

Chris Woakes strays down the leg side and Shane Dowrich helps it handsomely on its way for four.

There's been a lot of talk about the follow-on but captains don't like enforcing it with three days to spare. They never like to say they believe weather forecasts and I can see them batting again come what may which probably means they wouldn't declare before the rain day and the West Indies will have one day to survive.

I presume he means the light meter, not the eye drops.

Oh no, that machine is coming out. David Milne is bringing out that stupid machine. Oh no, let's just go off. Last night was one of the worst ones I've seen.

The light meter is coming out.

As are some eye drops for Jason Holder.

I don't think it's been officially announced yet but there has been rumours that England will be allowed some days at home between this Test and the Pakistan series that starts on 5 August. I wonder if that will be on the mind of the skipper if it comes to the follow-on? Can they win quicker?

Jason Holder taps the last off his hips for a single.

Is that the end of Jofra Archer's spell? He's bowled six on the trot now.

  9. WI 126-6published at 43.4 overs

Jofra Archer responds with a very sharp delivery that just beats the outside edge of Jason Holder's bat.

Jofra Archer is laughing but I don't think he's necessarily thinking this is very humorous.

Jason Holder is having a boundary-fest against Jofra Archer.

First up, he guides it off the face of the bat through third man.

Secondly, he nicely punches it down the ground to the fence.

Thirdly, he slides it through third man again.

Cornwall is uncharted terrority. But I've got my tactic worked out for him - I would ask my single-saving fielders to go retreat five yards and give him a single.

Fine response by Chris Woakes, hooping the last ball of the over past Shane Dowrich's outside edge.

You say this is the last real partnership, what about Rahkeem?

There have been 12 wickets today. England lost six for 111 while West Indies lost six for 110 so there is a certain symmetry about that. They still need 60 to avoid the follow-on though and this is the last real partnership.

  16. WI 114-6published at 42.4 overs

Shane Dowrich gets off the mark straight away with a booming cover drive to despatch an outswinger for four.

Lovely shot. Bold to do to your first ball. But lovely.

Did it come back in? It was a wide gate and he'd been kept quiet. That's added a little bit of space to it and Dom Bess can stand down for a while.

That is straight through Jermaine Blackwood. His middle stump has been entirely flattened and I'm not sure why! He tried to drive it and missed the ball, it's as simple as that.

    Blackwood b Woakes 26 (WI 110-6)

Oh hello! Emphatic from Chris Woakes.

A very good ball to a batsman like Jermaine Blackwood who likes to move to the leg side.

It nips back in at pace, Blackwood is in the wrong position and misses on the drive, seeing his middle stump knocked back.
