That is remarkable. And so telling about England's top order problems in recent years.

I get the context of this match, series and weather forecast is leading to some criticism of their slow scoring, but England fans must be heartened to see an opening pair capable of constructing solid stands.

This is now England's highest opening stand in a home Test since Alastair Cook & Alex Hales shared 126 against Pakistan in August 2016. It is their third highest in a home Test since 2012.

I think they've brought Kemar Roach on to slow the over rate because the off-spinners were doing a good job of keeping the scoring down.

And Kemar Roach starts his spell by inducing an edge off Dom Sibley but the ball flies through the gap in the cordon for four.

That's the end of double spin for now.

Kemar Roach is back into the attack.

If I was in the dressing room at tea I would be saying 'let's do our batting today. Just make sure we get all of our batting out of the way today and if we lose a few wickets by being ultra aggressive it isn't going to affect the game'.

    Clever batting.

Kemar Roach is pushed back on the boundary to prevent the sweep going for four so Rory Burns instead just taps it into the gap behind square to pick up an easy two.

Burns just needs to lock himself to play that shot. Again, it's a lovely balanced sweep shot and chooses the right length. That already looks like it should be his method against the spinner.

    Lead by 250

Lovely shot by Rory Burns as he again forcefully sweeps Roston Chase away for four.

    England now lead by 250.

It's a good decision. Dom Sibley was going to sweep the ball and Rahkeem Cornwall noticed and he fired it in. It was good bowling.

Michael Vaughan passes his umpire's audition. That did hit Dom Sibley outside the line.

A good decision from umpire Michael Gough on the field.

Rahkeem Cornwall reckons he's got Dom Sibley trapped lbw.

    Huge appeal but not given.

    West Indies send it upstairs.

There will be frustrations from both sets of supporters. England fans will saying 'come on get on with it' and West Indies will be starting to see it spin and think 'why did you bowl first Jason? You played two off-spinners for this'.

    Buses!

Two boundaries in an over - a sumptous off-drive by Dom Sibley down the ground to the fence.

That was a bad ball by Roston Chase and Rory Burns put it away well.

  20. Eng 68-0published at 27.3 overs

A very welcome boundary for England as Rory Burns gets in a big stride and forcefully sweeps round the corner for four.
