Have Sibley and Burns ended the debate about who should open for England? Or are they a little too similar or pedestrian for the needs of the game? I for one think having two decent but similar openers is a good problem to have.

You can't but you can't score too many runs out in the middle batting like this either!

You can't score runs in the pavillion!

Four from the over! Not a boundary mind, but a couple of twos for Dom Sibley either side of the wicket.

You can always tell when the cricket is slow because there's a real shortage of commentators around. Simon is showing his experience at the moment.

This is only the second time in a home Test since July 2017 that England's openers have added more than 60.

  7. Eng 60-0published at 26 overs

Rory Burns top-edges a sweep over the backpedalling fielder.

Both openers are trying to up the rate but are finding their scoring options very limited.

  8. Eng 58-0published at 25.3 overs

Dom Sibley does go for the big shot and miscues a flay aimed at mid-wicket just beyond the dive of square leg.

Tuesday looks a cloudy day as well so they've got to be careful. I don't think West Indies will charge through the overs in the next couple of hours and if the clouds are around at 5:30 ish I'm sure we'll be off for bad light.

Play late. Nudge. Nurdle. Two more runs. Ho hum cricket.

I don't remember ever sending a message out to the batsman. You normally just have a chat at drinks or before you go out. You'd like to think the players can read the situation.

The West Indies spinners continue to do a fine stifling job.

Ian Blyth: The West Indies aren't scoring 250 let alone 400, chuck the bat at it, declare at tea and there's a chance we won't need even Tuesday!

I'd think England will want as close to 400 as they can get.

  19. Eng 52-0published at 22 overs

More careful accumulation as Dom Sibley clips to square leg for a single that brings up the 50 partnership.

There is a little bit of spin too for Chase and Cornwall. I have some sympathy with this pair because there is an invitation to play a game that is not their natural game. England have been crying out for a solid opening pair to get runs in the first innings and they've helped in providing that but in this particular situation they do need to hurry up a little bit. It is like torment for them.
