Tomorrow is a complete washout, we know that. It's not going to change. How much time do England want to bowl West Indies out? Knowing you have to win to get the Wisden Trophy back. Four sessions?

Cap update. Carlos Brathwaite says Windies subs who haven't played a Test get no sort of cap, just the floppy.

  4. Eng 38-0published at 15 overs

That's a fine maiden over by Jason Holder, capped by hitting Dom Sibley on the pads.

A stifled appeal though because it was clear straight away that hit him too high and easily going over the stumps.

New to watching cricket so intently. I don't understand why England aren't lashing out when I assume they want to win this game. The openers cruising along as if we have 5 more days is infuriating.

Given the Manchester weather tomorrow and a 200 lead, is there any reason why the bat is not being swung?

Not very convincing from Dom Sibley as he tamely chips a hook shot into the leg side.

He's lucky he miscued it so badly because it drops well short of square leg.

With Rory Burns advancing to the spinner and Sibley taking on the short ball, is this a sign both these openers now feel they've got to get a move on?

It's beautifully bowled by Roston Chase, he lured Rory Burns down. It was nicely gathered by Joshua da Silva, he went to the stumps and then missed them! He'll be disappointed with that.

It turned and bounced quickly, it might just wake up Dom Bess.

And that should have been it!

Rory Burns skips down the pitch, misses one that turns and bounces sharply and Joshua da Silva has a lot to do, taking it well to his left.

But he just loses his footing while trying to shimmy back to the stumps and can't break the bails.

This raises the prospect of Joshua da Silva being the owner of Test dismissals without having played a Test...

Subs often get a cap that isn't quite the official one. Da Silva might be wearing a floppy out of personal preference. Having said that, he's now keeping to Holder bare-headed, which you don't see very often.

Matthew Lee: Nobody loves a boring opening batsman more than myself but why aren’t England treating this like a T20? Somebody show Root & Silverwood tomorrow's weather forecast.

  13. Eng 37-0published at 13 overs

    Burns 12, Sibley 18

Rory Burns goes for a booming drive but that's not the lenght for that shot and the ball just evades the outside edge.

The appearance of Joshua da Silva has energised the West Indies team, who seem thrilled that he is taking a meaningful part in an international match for the first time. He's a name to remember. Only 22, good first-class record with the bat. He once spent time with Old Wimbledonians in the Surrey Championship.

Jason Holder was zoning in on that middle and leg stump and that's just right in the zone for Dom Sibley.

  16. Eng 36-0published at 14:33 British Summer Time 26 July 2020

    He heard you, Phil.

Jason Holder strays onto the pads and Dom Sibley whips it through mid-wicket for four.

England musn't hang about here, they've got to be positive. Rory Burns will be busy but the one criticism of Dom Sibley is you can set fields to him and dry him up outside off stump.

  18. Eng 32-0published at 14:32 British Summer Time 26 July 2020

Dom Sibley taps two then one.

Roston Chase has had success against Rory Burns in this series but the England opener can easily play the last ball of the over away to point for no run.

That's enough for big Shannon for now. Not his best spell but he proved yesterday he can be up there with the most devastating bowlers at his best.

    Roston Chase enters the fray.

And for those on wicketkeeping head gear watch - Joshua da Silva has donned a helmet to stand up to the stumps.

Nicky Milburn: He's a good bowler but surely Shannon Gabriel is becoming a big problem for West Indies. Constant no balls, he can't field because he's so knackered.

It would be interesting to see how many runs he's cost them over the past two matches
