Ollie Pope is inexperienced at this level but he's displaying the maturity which indicates he'll score a lot runs in Test cricket.
Pope 44, Buttler 15
Excellent from Ollie Pope, tipping Yasir Shah into the off side and then putting Shan Masood under pressure as he darts through for a single.
Short from Yasir, too short, and Jos Buttler can free his arms to drive a nice four through to the boundary. Say it quietly, but Yasir hasn't bowled all that well...

We all know Jos Buttler has huge talent and he has played well in Tests. But in recent times he's found it so challenging.
Trail by 243 runs
Ollie Pope wisely lets a sharply-turning delivery from Yasir Shah drift through to the keeper, before he nabs a quick single to keep things rolling along.
Oh, that's a brave leave! Jos Buttler lets this latest delivery go on length as it skids straight on and it somehow misses the stumps.
Look away now, Joe Root fans.
Ollie Pope tickles a single off the first ball of the over and Jos Buttler ends it with a glorious drive down the ground for four.

Mujahid: Buttler to the rescue. How many more times does he have to come in 100-5, 50-4? His way of playing Test match is attacking. If we're going to continuously have batting collapses and then rely on Buttler playing a few shots to get runs then we need to bring Foakes in.
Jos Buttler gets himself off the mark with a dinky dab around the corner for two.
He repeats the shot to the next ball and Mohammad Rizwan, anticipating it, moves to his left to try and take a catch, but Buttler gets it fine enough to add another couple to the total.

Tom Bell: Can we please stop saying that Joe Root is part of a fab four? England have sacrificed his batting for mediocre captaincy.
Kumaran Ravendradas: Ollie Pope looks like he batting on a completely different pitch to the rest of the England players.

It was a loose short. He went after it full-blooded. Heart in mouth stuff.
And Ollie Pope almost falls to the next ball!
Hanging outside off stump, Pope goes driving, and a furious swing of the bat allows the ball to go over a desperately leaping Shadab Khan at gully.
Hello!
Short but sitting up from Naseem Shah and Ollie Pope slams him with aplomb through square for four. Lovely, lovely stuff.
The noise has just cranked up a notch...

Root will be furious, not just disappointed. He thought it would turn but it just came on. The shot selection was not right and he knew it as he walked off.
