Joe Root is off the mark with a quick single into the off side. Very Shadab Khan-esque.

Mohammad Abbas is so skilful. Back when I was a part of the Pakistan coaching staff, we had an emerging talent camp and we saw this guy and picked him. Since then, he's been phenomenal.
Runs! A little more controlled from Ollie Pope this time, guiding Mohammad Abbas through third man and adding a welcome two to England's total.
A single means that Joe Root finally gets to face someone other than Shaheen, and he's instantly rapped on the pad by Abbas. Too high to trouble anyone, however.

Greg Double: This is some Waqar Younis / Imran Khan stuff from Pakistan today. Genuinely unplayable.
England are losing wickets faster than we can clip them up.
The follow-on is 127, for those asking.
Joe Root, meanwhile, has asked for a new bat. Presumably one that can middle these deliveries from Shaheen. He's still on nought.
A reminder that Naseem Shah hasn't had a bowl yet, and there's still two leg-spinners waiting in this attack.

Oh, that Mohammad Abbas delivery to get Ben Stokes... frame it. Hang it in the Louvre. Play it on your wedding day. Glorious.
Ollie Pope gets off the mark in less than convincing fashion as an outside edge flies past gully and runs away for four. Completely turned around by Abbas, Pope has done well to get bat on that.
Out walks Ollie Pope.

Magnificent delivery from Abbas. That's what you get from him all the time, he asks the question. England are in real trouble here.

England are in all sorts of horrible trouble. It's chaos out there. Goodness me.
Stokes b Abbas 0 (Eng 12-3)
MY WORD!
Oh, England are in absolute bother. Ben Stokes, the best batsman in the side, comes walking out of his crease, aiming a defensive shot down the ground, and instead his stumps get absolutely splattered. I'm not exaggerating - this delivery from Mohammad Abbas has smacked into the top of off stump and sent the bails flying. Brilliant, brilliant stuff.
Jonathan Trott is watching on from the England balcony as part of the coaching staff. Might be a better idea to get him padded up.

Alex Gaywood: In fairness to England, it has been almost a month since the last time they were horrendously outclassed in the opening Test match of a series.
Joe Root manages to get through a Shaheen Afridi over without incident which, at this stage, feels like a minor victory.
Mind you, he does get an 88mph delivery come rearing past his face, so it's not all plain sailing.
Here are two videos that demonstrate the highs and lows of cricket.

You feel the game is there for the taking for Pakistan. This is an absolute crucial period of the match.
Just imagine what the atmosphere would be like if there was a crowd. It would be very anxious, very tense.
Ben Stokes makes Mohammad Abbas wait, and then greets him with the full face of the bat first up.
Pakistan are making such an atmosphere inside this empty ground. There's chatter out in the middle, the support staff are pretty much all, to a man, sat in the stands, and the reserve players are watching on from their hotel room balconies.
