Simon Ashton: Great players they may be but can England really afford to carry both an all-rounder who can't bowl due to injury and a wicketkeeper/batsman who can't keep wicket in the same Test.

At 17 years and 174 days, Naseem Shah is the youngest bowler to take a wicket in a Test in England since fellow Pakistani Ata-ur-Rehman in 1992. The only person younger than those two is another Pakistan bowler, Khalid Hasan, who was 16 when he played at Trent Bridge in 1954.

I thought Pope played well. He was busy and his balance was good.

I don't know how long this will last. Although it's almost stopped raining already.

This delay has come from nowhere.

The plus side is, I live about 15 minutes drive from Old Trafford and we've just had a shower that lasted about 30 seconds, so we might not be off for too long.

There was excitement in the slips but I reckon that was going down leg side.

Shaheen Afridi pleads with the umpire as he gives Chris Woakes a rap on the pads, but height and maybe the angle has saved Woakes.

Woakes then drives down the ground and Mohammad Abbas, running after it in rather tired fashion, ends up missing the ball and instead guiding it into the boundary rope.

Another nice four for Jos Buttler, plenty of power behind the shot as he clonks it through cover, and he digs out a yorker to end the over.

Chris Woakes gave himself space there, which is not a good sign. All three stumps were available to the bowler. Jos Buttler should have a word, help his mate out - tell him to tap a run and get down the other end.

Oh, Chris Woakes gets an absolute peach from Naseem Shah and I have no idea how he's not got a nick on that.

A short leg is brought in, but a nice push from Woakes get him off the mark with a three.

Rae: I am backing Jos Buttler to go big today. He needs to visualise his epic ODI matchwinning innings against Australia on this ground in 2018 - matchwinning century scored from 27-4. He's done it before!

Jos Buttler has been so frustrated against the seamers, he might try to launch Yasir Shah into the football ground.

The lights have gone on at Old Trafford, which I'd imagine makes facing these fearsome fast bowlers even less fun.

A wild, wayward, wide delivery is well grabbed on to by Mohammad Rizwan, who has spent a lot of time leaping around behind the sticks today.
