Don't tell me he got that nick on that, that was straightforward for Buttler. It was a beauty from Anderson.

Oh, no. Is that a drop?
Jimmy Anderson rips one through Mohammad Rizwan's defences, there's a noise and Jos Buttler spills it. And it's an easy take. But did he hit it?
My friend Hannah made this a while back to demonstrate the many moods of James Anderson.
I intend to hang it on my wall.

This is a costly spell from Bess. The seamers from the other end are not going anywhere near the rate of Bess. He's trying to fizz it in too quickly.

Dom Bess isn't giving England the control they need, as he's spanked through point by Asad Shafiq.
A little late dab then allows Mohammad Rizwan to run three, and prompts Joe Root to jog in for a chat with his bowler.

Jimmy is difficult to read but you're right, there's been something that hasn't been right today.

Anderson hasn't looked happy all day.

Oh, beauty. Mohammad Rizwan is beaten all ends up by a bit of reverse swing.
Jofra, Anderson, Woakes and Broad all converge to discuss tactics, before Anderson's first ball is overpitched and whipped by Mohammad Rizwan for a single.
The thought of an England team without James Anderson makes me feel a little bit unwell.
King Grumpy will replace Chris Woakes.

It flew off a thick edge and it's one of those ones where the ball was spinning and it was a horrible one to try to stop as well.
Ooft. A tosh delivery from Dom Bess, a full bunger, and it's way too easy for Mohammad Rizwan to get forward and sweep it aerially for four.
A back foot push lands just short of Stuart Broad, who doesn't so much fumble the ball as dance around it, and Rizwan picks up a single.
Chris Woakes is great.

A little bit grumpy?!
The best bit about Chris Woakes is that if he doesn't think something is out, he doesn't appeal. He even tells his teammates behind the stumps to calm down if they go up for a speculative shout. Nicest man in cricket.

I'm wondering whether they should give Anderson a little spell now. He bowls well when he's a little bit grumpy.

Chris Woakes has 85 wickets at 22 in home Tests and 25 at 51.68 in away matches. He is the personification of England's contrasting fortunes.

I actually think this England team, more than any other, relies on the crowd to lift them. You often see Root indicating to the fans to make a bit more noise.

Pakistan have seemed lively since the start, while England have been muted and a bit glum even when doing well. Have we considered that the second bubble experience of the summer is taking its toll on their mood and hurting their cricket? It must be pretty miserable.

It went quickly. It would have been a brilliant catch, to be fair to him.
Pak 66-4
James Anderson's bad mood gets even worse as he dives a touch late at backward point as Asad Shafiq thrashes at Chris Woakes, and his attempted one-handed grab misses. It would have been a belter if he'd taken it, but he also looks like he might use a stump as a weapon if anything else goes against him.
