Ah, it's a change of ends for Dom Bess, replacing Jofra Archer.
Gosh, this was a terrible shot.

Look at the seam position from Woakes. It's all about the natural variation, it hit the seam and nipped back.

Big wicket for Woakes. It was an excellent ball, right in the channel. His line and length was spot on.

England really are nearly back in this. Just a couple more wickets.
Babar Azam just prodded at that, it was a beautifully delivered ball.
Babar c Stokes b Woakes 5 (Pak 48-3)
I told you there was nothing wrong with the ball!
It's that typical off stump line from Chris Woakes, and Babar Azam rather hangs his bat out. A thick outside edge goes flying to second slip, where Ben Stokes takes a comfortable catch. Now then...

You'd expect there to be more noise, chatter and intensity out there from England. It was noticeable when Woakes took the catch, it wasn't thrown up in the air or anything, he just rolled it back.
A sweetly-timed push from Babar Azam adds a couple to the total, and Stuart Broad loses his sunhat as he goes tearing after the ball.
Woakes has decided he doesn't like the shape of the ball, but after the umpire whips out his measuring device, he's told to carry on.

Doctor Joker: People criticising Archer for not bowling 90mph don't know how hard it is. Think of the many bowlers who bowled at that pace, they were all blighted with injuries.
Dom Bess is off and the delightfully bearded Chris Woakes is on.

Azhar Ali tumbles over and wasn't that far away from tumbling onto his stumps.
A clonking straight drive from Azhar Ali is stopped in its tracks by a sliding Stuart Broad, before a ping off the pads adds another couple of runs.
Whoops. Azhar Ali ducks under an Archer bouncer, doesn't settle himself properly and ends up flat on his backside. It's not the most dignified he's ever looked.

This is a situation in the game where Pakistan can close England out with a bit of a partnership. But a couple of wickets and England will feel they could get back into it, although the lead is nearly 150.

"Only bowling 85mph." I mean, 85mph isn't bad, no?
I would have Archer in a Test side over Wood. I think he's more accurate and he can play that run-stemming role if they need him to. Bowling at 90mph is just really blooming hard, and it's not like every pitch England will play on will help Archer do that. This one hasn't.

If Jofra is only going to be bowling 85 mph, why don't we play Mark Wood? His speeds seem to be in the high 80s far more consistently.
James
Tidy from Jofra Archer, but his last ball is a touch tempting and Babar Azam drives it hard off the back foot for a couple.

This is where you really want Jofra Archer to be charging in, to produce one of those spells.
Babar 1, Azhar 12
Babar Azam gets himself off the mark with a whip off his pads for a single.
That means he'll be facing Jofra Archer, who troubled him with some short stuff in the first innings.

The Pakistan fans have exited the tram stop. Their work here is done. I hope they pop up on the golf course in Southampton.
