It looks a lot lighter today than it did yesterday when we went off for dark light but that can't be the case because the umpires just take a reading for the Test match.

But you can't help but feel that the reading they took yesterday was too low. We should be playing in the conditions we have right now.

  2. Bad light stops playpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 14 August 2020

    And off we go again...

Richard Kettleborough actually looks pretty apologetic this time.

The light meter is out again...

    That was adventurous.

  5. Pak 223-9published at 86 overs

There was a classic Stuart Broad celebrappeal for that wicket but then he remembered he's on three ICC demerit points so quickly turned round and appealed to Richard Kettleborough because if he picks up another one he'll receive a suspension.

Mohammad Rizwan has decided it is definitely time to tee off as he comes down the track and whacks Broad over the covers for a couple before playing a gorgeous drive for four. This has been an excellent innings from the Pakistan wicketkeeper to get his side up to a decent first-innings score.

He keeps the strike with a dab into gully.

Mohammad Abbas is off - he hasn't waited for the technology.

    WICKETpublished at 85.1 overs

Abbas lbw Broad 2 (Pak 215-9)

Who would have thought it? Full and straight gets a number 10 out!

Matt will be happy, it looks like someone did have a word during the break as Stuart Broad gets it right up there and the technology confirms it was crashing into middle stump.

    There's no bat...

  10. Pakistan reviewpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 14 August 2020

Full and straight from Stuart Broad and Richard Kettleborough raises his finger.

Mohammad Abbas goes for a review but this looks pretty plumb.

I hope someone got hold of England in that break. Can they go back to bowling properly please?

  12. Pak 215-8published at 85 overs

Woakes finishes his over with two dot balls outside off stump.

That leaves Mohammad Abbas on strike.

  13. Postpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 14 August 2020

    And we're back under way.

Chris Woakes is going to complete the 85th over.

Both sets of players are on the boundary edge waiting to go again.

It looks like we're just waiting for the umpires...

There are members of the public smashing golf balls around the course out the back of the ground.

    Surely just as ‘dangerous’?

    Only in cricket...

It is a year to the day since Jofra Archer made his Test debut against Australia at Lord's.

He's been rested for this Test so he's spent some time in the nets and I imagine he's going to spend the rest of the day on his games console.

  18. Postpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 14 August 2020

The umpires have apparently said "we're going to start as soon we can".

Ermm... I would hope so too!

  19. Postpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 14 August 2020

The hover cover is being removed and I think I've just seen the two umpires going back to the changing room so we may get some more play pretty soon.

  20. Postpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 14 August 2020

That's a good point from Daniel - the Pakistan batsman have arguably looked the most comfortable they've looked in the whole Test in the half an hour before we went off.

I really hope Richard Kettleborough didn't start getting twitchy when Mohammad Abbas got hit on the arm guard when he was ducking a Stuart Broad bouncer. He didn't lose that because of the light, that happened because he's a number 10!
