An early start on Sunday is now looking pretty likely.

Adam Brookes: Getting silly really. Too long between bad weather stopping and inspection and will then be too long to the restart. Players should be ready if the inspection passes to start at 12.15. But that won’t happen. To much time off the field unnecessarily.

It's been tough going for the tourists in this Test. They didn't have too much to shout about yesterday, apart from this cracking delivery from 17-year-old Naseem Shah to dismiss Joe Root...

So then, 15 minutes until the inspection. Hopefully, play can then begin ASAP afterwards.

Hmmm. I was expecting news of a restart time, not a pitch inspection.

The wait will go on a bit longer than we thought.

You may be feeling the blues with this being the last Test of the summer. But here is some potential news that might cheer you up. According to ESPNCricinfo, external, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has said that India will host England in February 2021.

"The senior Indian men's team will travel to Australia for its series starting in December this year and will come back to the country for a series against England starting from February next year," Ganguly reportedly said in the letter dated August 20, accessed by ESPNCricinfo.

That dark cloud seems to have passed. The Super-Sopper is out. The groundstaff are working hard. Will bring you news of a restart as soon as we hear.

We've had a couple of periods of it absolutely hosing down. It might just have passed now. There's blue sky behind where the rain was coming from.

Very good, Alex. My vocal chords are getting a workout today. Getting some weird looks from colleagues.

As frustrating as this weather is, remember that time can be made up tomorrow.

If time is lost on a particular day, officials will have the option of starting play 30 minutes earlier on the following day.
