Curtis Campher might have to go a bit higher up the order to stabilise things. They've got respectablity but I'm not sure it's a total that will win the game.

    Ire 185-7

What a way to bring up a second successive fifty, Campher in Jos Buttler-style crouching to scoop a full toss wide of off-stump from Topley to square-leg for his fifth four, relishing this international cricket lark.

Ireland's main issue is not the youngsters - it's the fact that the three older, experienced guys have struggled to contribute.

  4. Ire 179-7published at 45 overs

    Campher 47*, McBrine 14*

What a shot this is from the left-handed McBrine, who made 40 in the opening match. He boldly steps down the wicket to Willey and strikes majestically down the ground for four, so England will chase more than they did on Thursday, when they lost four wickets inside 14 overs.

Here's the wicket of Simi Singh for 25, ending a partnership of 60.

The sun is out again as Topley returns after an opening five-over spell of 0-13. Looks a little like Sly Stallone in Rambo with his black bandana, stubble and tousled, one hesitates to say, mullet. First ODI since 2016 for the giant left-armer and up around 83mph but no wicket yet, Campher fortunate as an inside edge goes narrowly past the stumps.

  7. Ire 166-7published at 43 overs

A fourth boundary for Campher as he moves towards a second successive fifty, fizzing a pull shot at Willey to the fence and he has 43 now.

  8. Ire 157-7published at 42 overs

McBrine almost went first ball there, risking a quick single to the left hand of David Willey and tumbling in, trousers riding up in the process, at the non-striker's end. He was out if it had hit, but it didn't. The left-hander takes advantage with the final delivery of the over, with a deft upper cut at Mahmood for four.

That was a little bit of a lazy shot, a half-hearted dab down to third man. He needed to stay a little longer but it's been a great effort on Singh's part.

    Singh c Bairstow b Mahmood 25 (Ire 151-7)

Well he'd just glanced one delightful boundary but he's gone this time, no doubt about the edge on this occasion for Jonny B behind the bails.

Ireland need a few more of these in the closing stages from Singh.

  12. Ire 147-6published at 41 overs

After 2-14 from his opening six overs, Thursday's five-wicket man-of-the-match Willey, having been off the field earlier, does indeed come back into the fray. No contact with an attempted cut by Campher and still only one boundary conceded by England's left-armer.

My most cherished first-class wicket is a certain Mr Adil Rashid. It was a gloomy day in Dubai, Yorkshire were flaying us everywhere, and I got thrown the ball. I drifted it beautifully onto the front pad, hit him straight on the shin, and there was no real appeal needed. Off you go, on your bike.

  14. Ire 145-6published at 40 overs

A fine stop from David Willey in his blue floppy hat to deny Campher a certain boundary with another sweet drive and England's left-armer looks like he will come back into the attack.

It wasn't the most convincing appeal from Jonny Bairstow, who is never averse to going up.

  16. Postpublished at 39.1 overs

Not sure what Jonny heard there but it was not off the bat. Not like he can blame the noise of the crowd. No wicket for Mahmood and Campher continues on 31.

  17. Postpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 1 August 2020

England are going to gamble on their final review, Bairstow thinks it is a nick.

  18. Ire 138-6published at 39 overs

Moeen tries from round the wicket looking for turn out of the faint patches of rough on this used surface, the same pitch we played on for Thursday's opening match. Campher cannot get him away and only 11 overs left for Ireland to add. If they continue as they are their total will be 177.

As with all of these bio-secure matches, there are plenty of rules to follow.

Face coverings have to be worn at all times in the hotel, with no-go zones and walking routes to follow.

  20. Ire 136-6published at 38 overs

    Campher 30*, Singh 14*

Mahmood pins Campher on the crease at 86mph but umpire Millns shakes his head and England decide against using their final review, wisely as it transpires because it was missing leg stump.
