Ireland are doing the right thing to Tom Curran, bringing the field up. But the problem was he connected well.

    Willey 14, T Curran 9

Tom Curran looks to have got his eye in now as he sweetly lofts a drive straight back down the ground for a one-bounce four.

Serious hang time on that shot.

  4. Eng 235-7published at 37.4 overs

David Willey groans as he miscues a hook shot but the ball drops short of fine leg.

This could be the best game of the three. It's certainly got a different pattern to it and it's certainly changed in the last half an hour or so.

When Eoin Morgan was in I thought England were on for such a big total that the second half may not be exciting but the loss of quick wickets has given life to the game.

Hard to say Moeen's off spin is very valuable when he's not taken a single wicket in 18 overs so far this series.

As good as it got for Sam Billings before his tame dismissal.

  9. Eng 230-7published at 36.2 overs

Gareth Delany serves up a filthy full toss and Tom Curran tucks in, smashing it away through the covers for four to get off the mark.

England need to rebuild. If they bat their 50 overs they'll be near 300 and that's a very competitive score. But if they get bowled out for 250 then only two Irish batsmen need to come off.

  11. Eng 225-7published at 36 overs

Craig Young continues to bowl tremendously, keeping his line and length tight.

Tom Curran still can't get off the mark after facing 10 deliveries.

  12. Eng 224-7published at 35 overs

David Willey carves Gareth Delany out through the covers and calls 'two' - didn't need to run in the end, that races away to the fence for four.

A better over for England - seven from it.

    James Vince - maybe.

Moeen Ali - no. Still think his off-spin is very, very valuable even if his batting is a major concern.

Has this match ended the international career of two of England's batsmen?

That was a wicket maiden, you don't get many of those these days.

We've got a game on our hands but I think Ireland have to bowl England out or they'll get too many runs.

  16. Eng 216-7published at 34 overs

    Run rate 6.35

England don't just need to replace Liam Plunkett's mid-innings wickets, he was also a very, very handy batsman to have coming in at eight or nine.

Tom Curran has played some fine knocks, especially in the Big Bash. Can he consistently do the same at international level?

He sees out his first four balls to end the over.

A brilliant over by Craig Young - a wicket maiden.

Sam Billings didn't quite get hold of it - maybe it sat in the pitch and didn't quite come on. Credit to Andrew Balbirnie for keeping the field up.

England are in some sort of trouble here - it looks a good wicket.

    Billings c Adair b Young 19 (Eng 216-7)

England are really making a hash of this.

It's another tame dismissal - Sam Billings tries to loft a drive over the top of mid-on but ends up chipping it straight to Mark Adair there.

Ireland have taken 4-26 to surge back into this game.

    England need some lower-order runs.

From here it's about wickets. Andrew Balbirnie has been a little bit defensive, he's let Sam Billings get to 19 without really testing him. For the bowlers now it's about holding that natural challenging length.

  20. Eng 216-6published at 33 overs

Very fine work by Gareth Delany, finding a bit of drift and keeping David Willey honest.

Just two runs from the over.
