    Hameed c Lyth b Leech 21 (Nottinghamshire 55-3 v Yorks 264)

Nottinghamshire opener Haseeb Hameed falls for 21.

It's a second catch in the slips for former England man Adam Lyth too as Hameed edges Dominic Leech.

With every wicket, Jordan Thompson's 98 in Yorkshire's first innings is looking more and more valuable.

    Northants 67 v Somerset 166 & 108-6

Craig Overton and Roelof van der Merwe are on the charge for Somerset and taking the game away from Northants.

They've put on 55 in just over six overs and the lead is up to 205. Probably too many for Northants to chase already.

  3. RE: The second oldest County Cricketerpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

Further to Sophia's question about the the next oldest county player after Kent's Darren Stevens (see 11:55) I've tried to do some digging.

I can't find a stats filter that allows me to sort by age so instead I'm doing it the old way.

Thinking of players and googling their age.

So far I can tell you:

Ian Bell is 38 years and 120 days old.

Rikki Clarke is 38 years and 315 days old.

    Any other suggestions?

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

Libby st Cooke b Bull 184 (Worcestershire 388-4 v Glamorgan)

    Scrap all talk of records!

Jake Libby charges down the wicket to Kieran Bull, misses, and is stumped for a magnificent 184.

His fourth-wicket stand with Brett D'Oliveira ends at 318. Quite brilliant from the Worcestershire batsmen.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Hain lbw b M Taylor 8 (Gloucestershire 210 all out v Warks 15-2)

Another early wicket for the hosts.

England hopeful Sam Hain is trapped lbw by Matthew Taylor.

Ian Bell is the next man in for the visitors.

  6. Pears record about to go?published at 12:08 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Worcestershire 386-3 v Glamorgan

Okay, so Jake Libby and Brett D'Oliveira are closing in on Worcestershire's highest-ever stand for the fourth wicket.

Ben Smith and Graeme Hick put on 330 against Somerset in 2006. Libby and D'Oliveira have put on 316.

Hick and Tom Moody's third-wicket stand of 438 against Hampshire in 1997 remains the Pears best-ever partnership for any wicket... Libby and D'Oliveira will probably run out of time to surpass that.

  7. 300 runs

partnershippublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Worcestershire 374-3 v Glamorgan

I'm going to have to start flicking through the record books soon.

Brett D'Oliveira goes past 150 and with it brings up the 300 stand for the fourth wicket with Jake Libby (176*).

They came together with the score on 70-3.

  8. Postpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Kent 30-0 v Sussex 332

One place where the batsmen are enjoying themselves a bit more is at a sun-baked Canterbury.

Daniel Bell-Drummond and Jordan Cox are off to a decent start for Kent - 30-0 in reply to Sussex's 332.

  9. 50 runs

for Wayne Madsenpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Leicestershire 199 v Derbys 154-2

Derbyshire are starting to put Leicestershire to the sword now. They've raced passed 150 off 33 overs and are just 45 runs behind the hosts' first innings total.

Wayne Madsen's leading the way on 54 not out, with 10 fours from 83 deliveries.

George Woods: At this rate Northants and Somerset will make it to a 10th innings if they continue to a 4th day

  11. 6 runs

for Craig Overtonpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Northants 67 v Somerset 166 & 79-6

Craig Overton isn't going to hang about here.

The big all-rounder smashes Gareth Berg and then Ben Sanderson for a couple of maximums and Somerset's lead is quickly approaching 200.

    It stands at 178.

Sophia: Good to see Darren Stevens still playing for Kent, I wonder who the second oldest current county cricketer is. #bbccricket, external

We'll get back to you on that one Sophia.

And glad I'm not the only Darren Stevens fan! Of all the County Championship reports I've ever written. The 44-year-old's career-best 237 against Yorkshire last year is my absolute favourite.

    Essex 262 v Surrey 1-2

Will Jacks survives Jamie Porter's hat-trick delivery, but wow what a start for Essex.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Borthwick c Khushi b Porter 0 (Essex 262 v Surrey 1-2)

Jamie Porter is on a hat-trick!

Scott Borthwick flicks his first ball straight to Feroze Khushi at square leg.

Will Jacks will face the hat-trick ball...

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Yates c Roderick b Higgins 0 (Gloucstershire 210 all out v Warks 4-1)

    Fantastic start for Gloucestershire!

Just three balls in and Ryan Higgins gets Rob Yates for a duck caught behind.

Nice take from Gloucestershire keeper Gareth Roderick too.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Duckett c Lyth b Olivier 4 (Nottinghamshire 30-2 v Yorks 264 all out)

After five consecutive maidens, Ben Duckett gets frustrated and plays at one swinging away.

He nicks it and Adam Lyth takes an easy catch at second slip.

Great bowling by Duanne Olivier, backed up nicely by Steven Patterson at the other end.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Patel c Harmer b Patel 0 (Essex 262 v Surrey 1-1)

And a wicket goes in Surrey's first over...

Ryan Patel nicks Jamie Porter into the safe hands of Simon Harmer at slip.

It's a bowlers game is this Bob Willis Trophy lark.

  19. Postpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Essex 262 v Surrey 1-0

Batting should be a bit easier at Chelmsford where Mark Stoneman and Ryan Patel are opening for Surrey.

Paceman Jamie Porter has the new shiny cherry for Essex.

Okay, maybe batting isn't any easier...

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Davies b Berg 0 (Northants 67 v Somerset 166 & 53-6)

    Gone for a duck!

Gareth Berg picks up his third wicket in two overs this morning as he bowls Steven Davies without scoring.

    53-6. Crazy.
