  1. rain stops play

Rain interrupts Foxes chasepublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Durham 291-8 & forfeit v Leics forfeit & 105-2

What a shame, just when this was boiling up nicely.

Leicestershire can't afford to lose too many overs if they are to get anywhere close to their target.

Sam Evans is 37 not out and Colin Ackermann has 20.

  2. 50 runs

    Middlesex 269 & 115-0 v Kent 191

And just 10 minutes after Max Holden bags a half-century for Middlesex, his fellow opener Sam Robson follows suit.

It's been a pretty rapid-fire century partnership too - and Middlesex will be spitting feathers that the rain at the weekend cost them such a large chunk of this game.

  3. Postpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Warks 121 & 137-6 v Somerset 413-9 dec

We are five minutes from the scheduled restart at Edgbaston where Central Group leaders Somerset will no doubt be fully aware of Worcestershire's wicket blitz at Northants. Those two are tussling for top spot in the group.

  4. Postpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 38-0

Essex seem to really fancy this.

Nick Browne cracks Henry Crocombe away square for four, and in the paceman's next over, Alastair Cook pulls him away to the rope.

Cooks has 25, Browne is on 13 - and Essex need another 158 to win.

A fine 50 for Middlesex's Max Holden has helped his side stretch their lead to almost 200 at Canterbury.

I'm not willing to write this one off as a draw just yet.

  6. Postpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Surrey 172 & 8-1 v Hampshire 298

Surrey have lost a wicket at the start of their second innings at Arundel, with Ryan Patel caught behind fior five from a good ball by Brad Wheal.

They are 8-1, with 118 more needed to avoid an innings defeat.

  7. Postpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Durham 291-8 dec & forfeit v Leics forfeit & 100-2

Leicestershire reach 100 in the 38th over as Colin Ackermann plays Gareth Harte away for a single

Another 192 needed and they may soon have to start lifting the tempo a little.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Levi c Barnard b Pennington 8 (Northants 212 & 83-5 v Worcs 219 & 255-6 dec)

Northants are in absolute disarray at Wantage Road.

A diving catch at gully from Ed Barnard after a miscue from Richard Levi gives Dillon Pennington his first wicket of the match for Worcestershire.

  9. Good news for Somersetpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Warks 121 & 137-6 v Somerset 413-9

Somerset will have 40 overs to find the three wickets they need for victory - assuming there's no further rain at Edgbaston, that is.

  10. Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Nottinghamshire 472 v Lancashire 173 & 44-0

Fifteen overs used up by Lancashire and Keaton Jennings square cuts Steven Mullaney for four in the latest to reach 15 not out.

Is there enough in this pitch on day four for Notts to force a win? Only seam so far, but t may soon be time to start thinking of giving Matt Carter or Samit Patel a go.

  11. Positive start by Cookpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 23-0

A flying start by Essex in their run-chase at Hove and leading the charge is Sir Alastair Cook.

He square cuts for four in Henry Crocombe's opening over then adds two further boundaries off MItch Claydon - a flick to fine leg and punched off the back foot through mid-wicket.

    The target, remember, is 196.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Wagg c Roderick b Payne 0 (Glamorgan 116 & 121-7 v Glos 181)

Things are beginning to get seriously worrying for Glamorgan, who need a huge effort from their tail now with a perilous lead of just 56.

Graham Wagg is dismissed by a stunning one-handed diving grab from Glos wicketkeeper Gareth Roderick.

  13. Derbyshire avoid follow-onpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Yorkshire 400-6 dec v Derbyshire 202-6

We have play at Headingley and Matt Critchley drives uppishly for four in Duanne Olivier's opening over.

The follow-on is saved and its now just about how many bonus points can the teams earn before what looks like an inevitable draw.

One more shower, though, and that may be it.

  14. Postpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Durham 291-8 dec & forfeit v Leics forfeit & 87-2

Leicestershire skipper Colin Ackermann is settling in at Grace Road and plays an exquisite straight drive off Ben Raine to add four to the total.

He is eight not out and opener Sam Evans is on 31, with 205 more needed from 49 overs.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Thurston c Cox b Barnard 11 (Northants 212 & 71-4 v Worcs 219 & 255-6 dec)

    Ed Barnard.Image source, Getty Images

Who questioned Worcestershire's early declaration? Wasn't me honestly...

They must have looked at Northants' scores with the bat this summer in fairness and figured it was worth the gamble.

It's another struggle with the bat for the Wantage Road men sadly.

A couple of the earlier dismissals were lbws that Northants didn't seem too happy with but on this occasion Charlie Thurston is already walking virtually before his nick off Ed Barnard hits Ben Cox's gloves.

  16. Get involved - best county tandempublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    #bbccricket

Live text viewer John Milner put forward Essex's Jamie Porter and Simon Harmer as the best pace/spin duo on the county scene - and we thought that might get a few reactions from you county fans out there.

David Heggie: Best pace/spin combo must be Craig Overton and Jack Leach. Leach doesn't even need to play to win this one.

Yes, Craig Overton hasn't done too shabbily without his pal this summer, has he?

  17. Postpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Glamorgan 116 & 117-5 v Glos 181

In among all that fun, there's been a wicket in Cardiff we neglected to mention. Apologies, it's getting a bit manic, as it always does on the final day of a county week.

Matt Taylor's bagged his third victim, getting through Tom Cullen's guard to clean bowl him.

Glamorgan lead by just 52 with five wickets remaining - although at least they've passed their first-innings tally.

  18. Dunn ends Hants inningspublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 18 August 2020

    Surrey 172 v Hampshire 298

Surrey are preparing to bat again at Arundel after Matt Dunn knocked out Brad Wheal's middle stump to end Hampshire;'s first innings two runs short of a third batting point.

Spinner Amar Virdi took 6-101 and Hampshire's lead is 126. Sensible batting by Surrey now required.
