Read MoreThe rain did its level best to ruin the third round of group matches in the Bob Willis Trophy - but we still enjoyed some exciting cricket.
Essex, Hampshire and Worcestershire completed final-day wins and it's a real shame that the weather ultimately had the final say at Grace Road after a declaration and innings forfeits set up a run-chase for Leicestershire, and at Edgbaston, where Somerset were poised for victory.
Top of the individual performances were Dawid Malan's 219, hundreds by Ben Slater and Ben Duckett for Notts, the 800th first-class wicket by Darren Stevens, James Fuller's hat-trick, nine wickets in the game for George Garton and yet another 'five-for' by Simon Harmer.

Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 199-7
A single by Paul Walter brings the scores level at Hove (pictured) and Aaron Beard tickles the winning boundary down to fine leg as Essex make it three wins out of three.
Walter finished 27 not out and Beard on 10, with Dan Lawrence (60) playing the leading role in their run-chase.
Simon Harmer took five wickets earlier in the day as Sussex set a target of 196 and although George Garton removed Sir Alastair Cook for the second time - and had match figures of 9-70 - it wasn't enough.
Essex take 19 points and Sussex only three.
Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 194-7
Stuart Meaker returns to the attack. His first ball is a half-volley and Paul Walter puts it away, Two more runs needed.
Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 190-7
Mitch Claydon drops short, Paul Walter pulls in the air, but there is no fielder at square leg and he takes a single.
Sussex urgently need another wicket and they have Aaron Beard on strike again.
Claydon goes past the outside edge - that was close. And the frustration is double as the next ball runs away to third man for four off a thick edge.
Essex are almost there. What Sussex would give for a James Fuller-style hat-trick right now
Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 185-7
Don't forget that a tie is still possible.
George Garton bowls again and Paul Walter pulls to deep square leg for one and Aaron Beard plays away off his hip to rotate the strike.
Walter pinches a single as a shy at the bowler's end stumps rebounds off him and Essex need 11 more.
Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 182-7
Brilliant fielding by Delray Rawlins denies Aaron Beard a boundary at the start of a new Mitch Claydon over, but they go through for a single.
Paul Walter is the senior batsman for Essex now, with just Jamie Porter and Matt Quinn to come. No need to rush, there are plenty of overs left.
The final ball of the over is pulled away by Walter and he runs through for three to keep the strike - Essex need another 14.
Glamorgan 116 & 197-8 drew with Glos 181
A fantastic rearguard batting effort from Glamorgan secures them a draw in south Wales - and severely dents Gloucestershire's hopes of reaching the Bob Willis Trophy final at Lord's in September.
Having reduced their hosts to 138-8 on the final day of a match - like most other Bob Willis Trophy fixtures in this round of games - Glos looked set to give themselves a chance of a run chase in the evening session.
However, a superb captain's knock from Chris Cooke - his 59 not out the top score in the whole match - helped Glamorgan see out the draw in a half-century partnership with Timm van Gugten (30no).
Both sides pick up 10 points - but with next-to-no chance now of catching the Central Group's top two Worcestershire and Somerset.
Leics forfeit & 208-3 draw with Durham 291-8 dec & forfeit
Martin Emmerson
BBC Newcastle
Despite the best efforts of both sides in Leicester, the Bob Willis Trophy match has ended in a draw.
Having forfeited an innings each, the hosts were set 292 to win in 82 overs and needed 84 to win with the final 16 overs due but then it rained heavily for about 15 minutes.
With 40 minutes lost the players eventually shook hands on a draw and both sides take 10 points each.
David Bedingham hit 96 for Durham while Sam Evans crashed a fourth-day 85 but the lengthy rain delays on each day of this match ultimately made a result impossible.
Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 178-7
Here comes George Garton again. One more wicket and it'll be 10 in the match. He almost has it as Paul Walter tries to pull, gets a bottom edge and the ball runs down fine for two runs.
Walter pushes through the off-side for two and is then deceived by a slower ball, but chips it away for two more.
Sussex might not mind too much as Aaron Beard will be on strike for the next over. Essex need 18 more.

MJ Moorton: Been working on my dissertation today and have been following the BBC live text for most of the day. Recently switched to listening live when things started to get interesting. Now watching the live stream! What a tense finish to the game this is!!!
You can't call it, can you MJ? Essex need 22 runs, Sussex need three wickets. Spellbinding. You could write a dissertation on today's ups and downs at the county grounds around the country.
Harmer c Finch b Claydon 0 (Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 172-7)
Unbelievable. Two in three balls for Mitch Claydon.
Simon Harmer edges and Harry Finch moves in front of first slip to take the catch. Just when Sussex looked down and out, here they are roaring with life again.
Leics forfeit & 208-3 v Durham 291-8 dec & forfeit
We don't blame them, with just 84 runs needed and seven wickets in hand.
But will time run out?

Wheater c Brown b Claydon 14 (Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 172-6)
A late twist.
That's a good ball from Mitch Claydon which just holds it own and Adam Wheater edges through to Sussex skipper Ben Brown.
Essex need 24 runs - Sussex need four wickets.
Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 172-5
Sussex need something inspired now.
George Garton has taken nine wickets in the game - can he provide it?
He bangs in a short one and Adam Wheater is onto it and pulls it away for four runs. He has 14 not out and Paul Walter is on 10.
The target is 196 and there are 11 overs left.
So we have three games that remain ongoing:
Sussex 194 & 141 v Essex 140 & 167-5
Not a great over by Henry Crocombe.
Paul Walter drives a half-volley to the boundary and two balls later Adam Wheater unerringly puts away a short, wide delivery.
Another 29 needed by Essex.
