    Well this is aggressive!

Still two days left in the game but Somerset fancy an extra day off to prepare for the T20 Blast it seems.

They've pulled out to set Gloucestershire 385 to win.

They'll have six overs at the visitors tonight.

for Tom Lammonbypublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Somerset 223-1 and 237 v Gloucestershire 76

A really special moment as Tom Lammonby brings up a maiden first-class century.

It's been a charge from the hosts in the past hour and he gets there by scooping George Scott for four.

Two sixes and 11 fours in his 160-ball innings.

WICKETpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Tattersall c Croft b Jennings 25 (Yorkshire 139-5 v Lancashire)

    Keaton Jennings provides the breakthrough!

The part-time medium-pacer gets Jonny Tattersall caught at slip.

Lancashire will want to run through this relatively inexperienced Yorkshire lower order (minus Steven Patterson and Duanne Olivier).

  4. Middlesex all outpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Middlesex 203 v Sussex 293

Middlesex's first innings is over at Radlett as Jack Carson removes Tim Murtagh second-ball.

    Slater c Ackermann b Taylor 86 (Leics 222 v Notts 210-2)

A second Notts opener falls just short of a century.

Ben Slater is caught by a juggling Colin Ackermann at second slip off Tom Taylor.

The visitors are still in a commanding position at Grace Road though.

for Tom Abellpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Somerset 191-1 and 237 v Gloucestershire 76

With a chance to completely dominate the game, the Somerset captain has led by example.

119 in the first game against Glamorgan and back here at Taunton, reaches a seventh first-class hundred.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    S Curran c Robinson b Podmore 21 (Surrey 181-6 v Kent 342)

Sam Curran's promising knock comes to an end as he pokes forward at one from Harry Podmore and nicks it through to the keeper.

Surrey are facing a big first-innings deficit at The Oval.

  9. Elsewhere...published at 17:40 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

Ben Foakes and Sam Curran have got a nice little sixth-wicket partnership going for Surrey against Kent. The hosts are 181-5 at The Oval with Foakes on 71 and Curran 21.

Middlesex's teenage debutant Blake Cullen has just fallen for 34 at Radlett followed shortly after by Miguel Cummins. Middlesex are 203-9 and trail Sussex by 90.

In the Central Group the scores are level between Northants and Glamorgan. Northants are 259-4 and look set for a decent first-innings lead.

Meanwhile there's still no word of a resumption time at Chester-le-Street. Durham are 337-9 against Derbyshire.

  10. Postpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Hampshire v Essex 101-1

Hundred up for Essex and Alastair Cook is into the 40s for the gazillionth time.

All looking fairly easy for the South Group leaders at Arundel, but have they lost too much time in this game already to force a fourth win on the bounce?

  11. Postpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Yorkshire 118-4 v Lancashire

It's been good stuff from the Yorkshire batsman since the resumption.

Jonny Tattersall moves into the 20s by clipping Danny Lamb to the rope off his legs as his stand with Adam Lyth moves towards fifty.

    Hameed lbw b Evans 87 (Leics 222 v Notts 200-1)

Alex Evans smacks the Lancastrian on the pad as he attempts to leave the ball and up goes the finger. Hameed is on his way 13 short of a sixth first-class century.

for Tom Lammonbypublished at 17:08 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Somerset 145-1 and 237 v Gloucestershire 76

A maiden first-class fifty for the 20-year-old from Exeter in 122 balls.

He's had a couple of starts this season after being handed his debut against Glamorgan - 41 in the first game, 33 last week and now a first milestone.

The day gets better and better for Somerset.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Walter c Alsop b Holland 43 (Hants v Essex 83-1)

    That didn't take long!

Essex's makeshift opener Paul Walter goes straight after the restart, edging Hampshire's in-form seamer Ian Holland to first slip.

  17. Postpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Somerset 142-1 and 237 v Gloucestershire 76

The lead climbs over 300 for Somerset and already they'll be very confident of defending this score.

Amazing how many times this happens, plenty happening for the bowlers for four sessions then seemingly nothing.

It's down to that total failure with the bat by Gloucestershire.

Their bowlers have only had 38 overs break and the boots are back on and they're running in again 161 behind.

Despite all the positive things that would be said, it must be so demoralising.

Doesn't help either that Tom Abell and Tom Lammonby are playing very well.

  18. Restart at Arundelpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

So, after the longest of delays (four or five hours was it?) they're back out in Hampshire.

Paul Walter and Alastair Cook resume their innings for the visitors.

Play is also under way again between Middlesex and Sussex at another outground - Radlett.

  19. Wantage Road restart at 17:10 BSTpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Northamptonshire 245-4 v Glamorgan 259

It's been a great for Northamptonshire so far and they're going to get another 19.2 overs tonight to try and build a lead.

  20. 50 runs

for Foakespublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    Surrey 139-5 v Kent 342

Ben Foakes is driving this Surrey innings by himself. The England wicketkeeper brings up his half-century off 88 balls.

He'll need plenty more though to get his side out of trouble at The Oval.

Fellow England man Sam Curran has just joined him at the crease following the dismissal of Laurie Evans.
