    So that's the conclusion of the Bob Willis Trophy group stage.

    While it may not have been everyone's cup of tea, it's certainly provided some talking points over the past five weeks or so and for the future of the first-class domestic game it seems.

    As mentioned, Essex and Somerset now have the Lord's final to look forward to later this month.

    You don't have to wait that long though for your next fix of county cricket on the BBC.

    The T20 Blast group stage returns from Thursday with action from the Ageas Bowl as Hampshire host Sussex.

    They'll be ball-by-ball commentary available on the BBC Sport website and app from around 18:15 BST.

    After that, there is a flurry of fixtures still to be played before the group stage concludes on Sunday 20 September.

    Well, that was a nervy and exciting way to finish it all off.

    What's not to like about a side fighting it out in the lengthening shadows to get a draw?

    Nice moment as well there at the end at Sophia Gardens as the players and umpires hang back to allow Ian Bell to walk off first and take one final ovation in first-class cricket.
