  1. Notts 82-3published at 8.2 overs

It sounds simple but Surrey need to bowl more at the wicket here.

Peter Trego - in his first T20 game since July 2019, amazingly, having come in at late notice for Chris Nash, who was injured in the semi-final win over Lancashire - cuts Daniel Moriarty to the boundary with ease.

  2. Postpublished at 21:25 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

Surrey need a wicket here to break this partnership. They turn to Daniel Moriarty who has 16 T20 wickets this summer.

  3. Notts 77-3 (target 128)published at 8th over

    Duckett 29, Trego 27

Surrey's bowling has gone completely wayward here, not helped by the conditions admittedly.

One delivery slips right out of Jamie Overton's hand in his first over of the final. It's given as a wide.

There might have been an excuse for that one but not the previous ball which Peter Trego gratefully gobbled up, carving away for four.

A misfield from Daniel Moriarty then gifts Trego another boundary and he ends the over with a third four - 16 runs from an expensive over, now 51 needed off 48.

There can be little doubt the right two teams are in the final.

Both these sides topped their groups and achieved the highest points tallies of any teams in the competition.

They are evenly matched and it could go down to the wire - but you sense it's advantage Notts right now.

  5. Notts 61-3 (target 128)published at 7th over

Notts have really composed themselves after that awful wobble. They are back above the required run rate.

Liam Plunkett bowling two no-balls in his first over does not help the Surrey cause - it's their turn to wobble now.

Ben Duckett takes advantage of the second free hit to crash away a four towards Cow Corner that was almost a six.

They need 67 runs from 54 balls to regain the Blast title they previously held in 2017.

  6. Magic momentpublished at 21:16 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

As Notts continue their run-chase at Edgbaston, let's look back briefly to the Surrey innings and a fantastic catch by wicketkeeper Tom Moores.

  7. 'Trego and Duckett are shifting the momentum'published at 21:15 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Steven Finn
England bowler on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Just like the first innings where Laurie Evans and Jason Roy built a partnership through sensible batting and not taking too many risks, Peter Trego and Ben Duckett are shifting the momentum for Notts.

  8. Notts 47-3 (target 128)published at 6th over

    Duckett 20, Trego 14

Poor old Will Jacks, he could have had a wicket there - instead Peter Trego swipes the final ball to the boundary and it looks, on the face of it, a poor over from the Surrey bowler.

Notts hit 14 off it - this partnership is key for them, you feel.

Will Jacks is bowling with real control here for Surrey.

Yes, he's been picked off a couple of times, as any spinner can be in white ball cricket.

And he's unlucky not to bag a third wicket as Ben Duckett's sweep drifts just over the outstretched arm of Hashim Amla.

A boundary instead of a wicket. Hard lines for Jacks.

  10. 6 runs

    Notts 33-3 (target 128)published at 5th over

    Duckett 14, Trego 7

Peter Trego dispatches a loose ball from Daniel Moriarty to the stands - elementary, my dear fellow.

He adds a single and that's probably Notts' best over yet. Not saying much, mind.

  11. Postpublished at 4.1 overs

Notts are trying to self-implode here.

Ben Duckett, from the non-striker's end, attempts a single when it's never on but manages to recover his ground before Jamie Overton's direct hit dislodges the stumps.

  12. Notts 25-3 (target 128)published at 4th over

    Duckett 13 Trego 1

Well, that was an eventful over from Will Jacks.

A drop, a wicket, a couple of boundaries.

Peter Trego is the new man in after Samit Patel holed out - can he be the partner Ben Duckett desperately needs?

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.3 overs

    Patel c Burns b Jacks 7 (Notts 19-3)

What are Notts doing here? And what is Samit Patel thinking?

Two balls after a Rory Burns drop gives him a reprieve, he hits the ball to the same place where the England Test opener this time gathers it cleanly at long-on.

  14. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 3.1 overs

Will Jacks has 11 T20 wickets this season - and it should be 12.

However, Rory Burns drops a simple catch on the boundary - and, this being cricket, Samit Patel hits the next ball to the boundary.

  15. ouch!

Postpublished at 20:57 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

The physio comes on after Ben Duckett takes a whack to the thumb from a Reece Topley delivery.

He's okay to continue but that one will have smarted.

Notts need a big innings from Duckett, a man who has won this tournament twice before with Northants.

  16. 'Topley looks like he's been working on his game'published at 20:57 British Summer Time 4 October 2020

    Alex Hartley
England spinner on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Reece Topley looks stronger and he looks like he's been working on his game.

  17. Notts 13-2 (target 128)published at 3rd over

    Duckett 8, Patel 1

A second boundary for Ben Duckett, a lovely drive to extra cover to mar what had been otherwise another fine over for Surrey from Reece Topley.

But that run rate is already creeping up.

  18. Notts 8-2 (target 128)published at 2nd over

    Duckett 4, Patel 0

Ben Duckett pulls away Notts' first boundary towards the end of that second over but it's a lone bright spot in their innings so far.

  19. wicket

    Madness.

Joe Clarke got away with one the previous ball, trying to launch the spin of Will Jacks but miscuing over the head of wicketkeeper Ben Foakes.

But his luck runs out the next ball as he again tries to go big but Jamie Overton takes a diving catch.

  20. Notts 2-1published at 1st over

    Clarke 1, Duckett 0 - target 128

Surrey might have thought their total was slightly below par but they might well reassess after that first over.

One of Notts' danger men, Alex Hales, goes first ball and it's a superb opening over from Reece Topley at the expense of only two runs - and one of those was a wide.
