This is my 713th successful post to the BBC. Perhaps if Anon and Anon(2) put their name on things they would get the recognition they deserve.

A handful of singles are all South Africa can work from this latest over.

  4. SA 78-4published at 11.3 overs

Rassie van der Dussen gets a look at Chris Jordan and hammers consecutive deliveries to the cover fielder.

South Africa are going nowhere fast.

Slow turn for Rashid, but a tame stumping chance given by Du Plessis. England have a chance to close this game down now.

  6. SA 77-4published at 11 overs

This is a fair old wobble from South Africa, considering what a strong start they had.

Heinrich Klaasen is the new man for the hosts, who can only work two singles off another excellent Rashid over.

Du Plessis st Buttler b Rashid 11 (SA 75-4)

    Well, that's hideous.

Faf du Plessis looks a bit of a mug as he lurches forward, trying to turn Adil Rashid away for a single, and his back foot gets dragged well out of the crease. He misses the ball entirely and Jos Buttler takes off the bails for the simplest of stumpings.

Where were you when England made 517-1 at the Gabba?published at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2020

Great memories of working as a hotel manager in the French Alps. I woke up and turned on the computer, I had to wait 3 mins for dial-up internet to connect and magic met my eyes. Remember it like it was yesterday. Cook and Trott, you beauties.

South Africa's hopes of a competitive score seem to rest on Du Plessis, who is in good touch.

  11. SA 75-3published at 10 overs

Ben Stokes ends the over with a slower ball that Faf du Plessis can only bottom edge towards his toes.

    Halfway stage.

Faf, sporting a stupendous pair of acid pink batting gloves, eyes up mid-wicket and lofts Ben Stokes over it for four.

Stokes tries out a bouncer and then looks instantly miffed as it's called wide.

    Hendricks b Rashid 16 (SA 65-3)

    Bamboozled.

Probably not one for Reeza Hendricks' highlights reel, is that. He goes down low to slog-sweep Adil Rashid over the leg side and misses the ball entirely. Off come the zing bails as the ball clatters into them, and Hendricks has to go.

  15. SA 65-2published at 8.5 overs

That's a shot, Reeza Hendricks taking a quicker, flatter delivery from Adil Rashid and using the pace to reverse-sweep the ball around the corner and away for four.

Ben Stokes didn’t bowl a single over on Friday.

  17. SA 58-2published at 8 overs

Personally, I look for pictures of your pets - preferably dogs - watching the cricket, as I am easily pleased. I'm also a big fan of dad jokes and any sort of general life advice, like how to make the perfect roast potatoes, when is it acceptable to start watching Christmas films etc. The usual problems.

South Africa nab a couple of ungainly singles off Ben Stokes' first over.

Ben Stokes is going to have a bowl!

Horror haircut, by the way, but I've come to expect that from this England team.

That was a brave catch by Tom Curran. His confidence would have been bruised after the first game and that was very droppable. Both Currans have a great attitude.
