Perera doesn't hold back when it's even slightly full.
A slice of luck for Sri Lanka and their captain Kusal Perera as a thick inside edge goes past the stumps, and Jonny Bairstow, and away to the boundary.
A bit of breaking news to bring you, the ICC have just confirmed that October and November's Twenty20 World Cup will take place in the UAE and Oman rather than in India.
It will take place between 17 October and 14 November.
Nissanka picks up another couple with a nice back-foot drive through point.
This is a nice start for the tourists.

There's not been much seam or swing movement in these first couple of overs.
Sri Lanka often got their mix of defence, attack and intent wrong during the three-match Twenty20 series, but they've started well here.
Pathum Nissanka picks up a well-run two.

That's a magnificent shot. A free swing of the bat.
Shot!
Fuller from David Willey, but it is the same result, as Kusal Perera leans on a drive and picks up his second boundary.
Expensive first over from Willey.

Eoin Morgan says he has three spinners, so he must be including Liam Livingstone in that.
Short and wide from David Willey and Kusal Perera whacks it the boundary with a vicious cut.
That got the treatment it deserved.
David Willey will take the other new ball.

As expected Mark Wood gets the biggest cheer on his home ground as the teams are read out. I’ve already seen some people wearing Wood masks.
Lots of England football shirts here too, for obvious reasons.
Chris Woakes start with a maiden. He was getting a little bit of away movement throughout the over.
He gets a gentle applause from the 7,500 or so fans inside the Riverside. We're at about 50% capacity for this game.
The pitch looks rather unusual today.
There are visible cut marks - seven of them - across the pitch. Fine, but they are not straight.
At the current non-striker's end they start to veer off.

Former Sri Lanka all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special
Sri Lanka needed their senior players to stand up, but they have let the team down. Maybe a fresh, new mindset might be what Sri Lanka need to move forward.
Chris Woakes is going to get us under way.
Panthum Nissanka, who averages 11.67 in seven ODI games, will face up.
Someone is shadowing themselves from the sun with an umbrella.
I thought it was always meant to be overcast and perfect swing conditions in Durham?
It is a beautiful day.
England - after ODI series defeats to Australia and india - have slipped to fourth in the ODI rankings.
The current world champions will be expecting to win this series though, with the advantage of home conditions, and against a Sri Lanka side that are ranked ninth in the world.
These games are part of the the 2020–23 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League, which serves as part of the 2023 Cricket World Cup qualification process. England are currently second in that table, with Sri Lanka bottom.

All set at the nicest ground in the country. The sun always shines in the north east.
England's Joe Root on Sky Sports: "All you're trying to do all the time is trying to put your team in the position to win.
"Always great to play white-ball cricket - you gain a lot changing between the formats. It's great to come here and play with a bit more freedom and get some big runs.
"There is great strength in depth in England in white-ball cricket. You can't sleepwalk into series and we want to be the best in the world in all three formats."
