Jonny Bairstow's wrist looks in good order now as he whips off the bails in a flash in an attempted stumping.
Adil Rashid with a few looseners as he concedes two wides in his first couple of balls. Jonny Bairstow is eager behind the stumps, with plenty of encouragement. He tosses the final ball of the over up and Wanindu Hasaranga works it square for a single.
Sam Curran preparing to come back into the attack.
Eoin Morgan turns to spin as Adil Rashid is introduced at the Vauxhall End.
How good is Sam Curran?! Here are his three wickets from earlier.

The plan from Mark Wood is short ball, short ball, short ball and then pitch one up and get him groping forward.
"Great work you two" bellows Jonny Bairstow after Mark Wood gets a finger on a drive from Wanindu Hasaranga and David Willey dives to stop the ball going for four.

BBC Sport at The Oval
This feels like just as much a social occasions for many of the crowd as a cricket match. People are meeting up at international cricket for the first time in almost two years.
One group behind me have just decided to slow it down on the beers.
Both men fortunately okay. Tom Curran, sporting a black hair band to keep his locks out his eyes, hits Dhanajaya de Silva high on the pad with the final ball of the over and turns to appeal. It's way too high, though.

Jonny Bairstow looks in a lot of pain and discomfort.
A scrambled single after Hasaranga pops the ball into the leg side. Dhanajaya de Silva is ball watching and after belatedly setting off for a run ends up colliding with wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow as he grounds his bat.
De Silva 40*, Hasaranga 11*
A shuffle down the crease and a flamboyant drive from Dhanajaya de Silva to Tom Curran to the first ball after drinks but there is a man stationed in the covers and Sri Lanka take a single.
Time for something cool and refreshing.

Mark Wood applauded Jonny Bairstow's effort. You wouldn't see me doing that! It was a brilliant bit of bowling to create the chance, the bouncer really did rear up at him. I think he'll be disappointed he didn't catch it.
SL 63-4
A vicious short delivery from Mark Wood has Wanindu Hasaranga hopping about the crease and the ball glances off the face of the bat. Jonny Bairstow is at full stretch as it goes over his head but the ball does not go into the glove.

Since 2019, England have had to chase between 225 and 299 six times and they lost four of those games and tied one (the World Cup final). It could be that Eoin Morgan wants his team to practise chasing such targets.

The pitch looks good now, after the frenetic start. These two are just knocking it around and hoping to put the bad ball away.
Tom Curran with a nagging over to Wanindu Hasaranga, who eventually gets a run off the fifth ball of the over with a clip off his legs.

Azrael: Sri Lanka are a team in transition. It wasn't long ago they were the best one-day side in the world. They've lost a lot of world-class players all at the same time.

The ball has stopped swinging now - the conditions have changed now.
