Eoin Morgan has clicked into gear. He is feeling more and more at home at the crease. This is important for England, to have the skipper in good touch.

Hasaranga comes back into the attack. He's been great fun to watch all series - not only has he bowled very well but his blonde highlights, earrings and bright blue spikes are absolutely iconic.

He's welcomed back by an Eoin Morgan reverse sweep and then maybe a dropped catch? Was it? No one seems to know but it was Kusal Perera behind the stumps that missed it, and they're having a drink.

For some reason Joe Root has changed bats, as someone brings out a selection of about five for him to choose from.

The one he was using wasn't exactly holding him back.

Joe Root goes to 41 with a crisp flick off his pads for four, followed up by a dab to third man for a single. He looks impossible to get out at the moment.

Sam Curran was excellent for England in the first innings today, picking up his maiden ODI five-wicket haul.

Fernandos operating at both ends for Sri Lanka. There's got to be an Alan Partridge joke there somewhere, surely? Hopefully someone out there gets the reference otherwise that's a bit awkward.

Kusal Perera dives to stop another wide and he looks in real discomfort, a grimace as he throws the ball back to the bowler.

Other than Sri Lanka's constant scurrying between the wickets when the right and left handers are on strike and a chorus of Hey Jude coming from the stands, it's gone a bit quiet - England are just ticking along.

It's been a very classical Joe Root innings, one where you blink and he's made it to 30. He looks as if he's going to be there at the end to see England home once again.

Binura Fernando bowls five wides to Root and Kusal Perera lands awkwardly on his shoulder, but is well enough to continue.

It's almost like an old-fashioned run chase this, for England. Working the ball into the gaps for ones and twos and punishing the bad ball. It's hard to see anything other than an England win the longer these two occupy the crease.

In his silky Irish tones Eoin Morgan offers a 'no' to Joe Root after dabbing a Binura Fernando delivery straight. The next ball he flicks it off his hip to ease through for a single. Comfortable for England.

Michael Penhale: Root must be so, so irritating for opposition skippers. He doesn’t seem to play a shot in anger early in his innings but you look at the scorecard & he’s suddenly 20 odd at about a run a ball! Just seems to effortlessly pick up singles & keep the scoreboard ticking.

Eoin Morgan is just getting into his groove.

Eoin Morgan find the boundary with a stylish pull through mid-wicket. Chamika Karunaratne bangs the next deliver in short and Morgan takes it on, but the ball flashes over wicketkeeper Kusal Perera's head and races away for four.

Joe Root plays another cut shot off Dushmantha Chameera, this time he gets four although it's not come off the meat of the bat and just evades a fielder at a wide-ish gully. Later in the over he works one off his pads which Asitha dives to try to stop, but the television review determines it's a four. Root is unbeaten on a run-a-ball 26.
