It's easy to say the gulf is large, but have England learnt anything from this series?

The rain had got heavier. Brollies are up all around the ground. Urgh.
Phil Tufnell
Former England spinner on BBC Test Match Special
We'd been lucky so far.
Jonny Bairstow then gets very animated over a very leg-side lbw off Adil Rashid.
And the rain is just a bit too heavy and the players have gone off.

Marka27: Peep Show reference in the live text? That's a better performance than Sri Lanka!
Another two follows and Jonny Bairstow goes for a very ambitious run out attempt. The stump mic picks him up saying "just checking". You don't ask, you don't get, I suppose.

Dasun Shanaka might play some shots if the boundary opportunity is there. If they get 150 that would be a positive, but it still feels a long way away the way they are playing.
Shanaka takes the charge to Tom Curran with a big heave that goes into the off side for a couple. It makes sense for him to play this way with just two wickets left.

It's a passing shower.
Matthew Henry

It's raining again.
Oh dear. A Mexican wave of coats and umbrellas goes up around the ground.
Chameera takes a single off Rashid's final ball and he has an over of Tom Curran to face. I would've thought Shanaka would want more of the strike, but he trusts his number 10.

That is disappointing, it is an absolute hoof.
I don't understand why you don't want to get your name in the hat? Yes, he's a bowler, but get some runs and get in the coaches and captains mind. Why not dig in and get some runs?
Dushmantha Chameera, one of Sri Lanka's only players to have had a decent tour, survives his first ball.
A Sam Curran five-for in the last game and now his brother's one wicket away from one of his own.

That was a little rush of blood, he had played in an organised manner.
B Fernando c Bairstow b T Curran 7 (SL 124-8)
Tom Curran has another! There was almost a run out the ball before, and a wicket did feel inevitable.
Binura Fernando takes a big swipe at a pretty standard delivery from Tom Curran that he can only edge through to Bairstow for a simple catch.

Rashid whizzes through his overs, which is not what you want when you're a batting team in trouble.
Shanaka 24, B Fernando 6
Just the single from Adil Rashid's over.
Should Sri Lanka just try and have a go from here? It feels inevitable that they'll be bowled out regardless.
Russel Arnold
Former Sri Lanka all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special
It's too easy for England but from Sri Lanka's point of view, they should be pushing England more. It's frustrating that batsmen are being dismissed in the same way every game.
I've been waiting to make that reference all day and I really hope someone out there gets it. Please.
