Joe Root gives it a big heave over mid-wicket for another four. The crowd are on their feet. Great stuff.
He's 178 not out. He couldn't, could he?

What a terrific stroke that is. It almost went for six!
It was brilliantly played and wonderfully executed.

Hello! Joe Root ramps Mohammed Siraj over the slips for four. Brilliant.

We had 10 balls in the over. I thought that only happened in The Hundred...
Kind of compelling viewing this, at the end of the day. Jasprit Burmah bowls two consecutive no-balls at the end of the over.
He finally sends down a legal delivery, pinged in at James Anderson's toes which he digs out.
Anderson was glad to see the back of that over.
Well played Jimmy. He digs out a yorker from Jasprit Burmah - although it's chalked off as no-ball. Another one in at his ribcage next up which he fends off before giving Bumrah a filthy look.
A short leg coming in.

Jasprit Burmah gives James Anderson a working over with another two short balls. Anderson does well to keep the second - another vicious one out of his ribcage - with his left hand on the bat.
From the look on his face, it's fair to say Anderson is not enjoying this particularly...

If you're India, you probably don't want to take the last wicket in the next 10 minutes. If we get to 18:20 BST, they won't bat tonight. I suspect Rohit and Rahul would prefer that.

Joe Root has marshalled the troops well, managed to bowl India out, and then didn't get much restpite. He came in with England under pressure and India had their tails up.
He looked fluent from the start. That is quite unusual for a batsman. He is such a great player. He has just carried on from Trent Bridge.
A quick look on Ultra Edge and there was no other noise. James Anderson being assessed by England's medical staff to see if he is still compos mentis after that blow from Jasprit Bumrah.

That was a fast and mean delivery for James Anderson to get first up.
Vicious from Jasprit Bumrah who bowls a nasty bouncer at James Anderson which clatters him on the helmet. Was there some glove involved?

Joe Root might not the have power of Ben Stokes but he has timing, placement and an abundance of talent.
It has been a magnificent innings.

Root and Anderson against India - we've been here before...

James Anderson strolls through the Long Room and out on to the field to chants of 'oh Jimmy Jimmy'.

That is a shame for Mark Wood and England. Wood was shaping up well - he is better than a number 10.
That run out is a consequence of England's tactics.
