Man of the match KL Rahul on the verbal exchanges between players: "We expect the intensity on the field from two good teams. You're always going to see great skills, a lot of heart, and a bit of words as well.
"It only shows how much each team wants to win. If you go after one of our guys, all 11 of us will come at you. That got us going and the bowlers were really pumped and wanted to have a real crack at them."

Man of the match KL Rahul: "I've been looking at the honours board every morning to see if they've put it on permanently or not. It is still temporary at the moment. It was a really proud moment and I'm really happy it resulted in a victory for India.
"Having been put into bat we needed a good start, and to put a decent total on the board, and the partnership with Rohit was really crucial."
KL Rahul, who scored a brilliant century in testing batting conditions on day one, was named man of the match. We'll have his thoughts shortly.

Joe Root is an honest lad and a great guy. He got it wrong and he admitted it. It will hurt him. I know he was expecting to win the game and he was really excited today and about what his side could achieve.
England weren't great on day one but on days two, three and four they were magnificent. That is the frustration.
You can't have a bad day against these sides and England chose the last day to do that. That mentality will concern Chris Silverwood and Joe Root.

More from Joe Root: "We are used to playing long series and we've found ourselves in these positions before and managed to come out on top. It is important we don't panic, we stay calm and we'll look to learn lessons that we'll put right.
"It is so good to have crowds back and they certainly didn't disappoint today."

Joe Root on TMS: "It was a disappointing day. At the start of the day we were very much in control of things and to get Rishabh early, as we did, was exceptional. In the first hour of play we were brilliant again and I thought we were in a very strong position to go on and win the Test match.
"Tactically I got a few things wrong, and a lot falls on my shoulders in that respect. The game could have looked very different at lunch time if I had managed things slightly different and I will learn from that experience and make sure that in similar scenarios I deal with it better.
"Sometimes it can be quite difficult because they score in quite unusual areas. You are trying to manage the game and holding the rate with finding ways of taking wickets. I probably got that slightly wrong."

More from India skipper Virat Kohli: "I've been a part of a winning Test team at Lord's under MS Dhoni but in that game we put them under pressure on day four. Today it's 60 overs and just under two sessions.
"Mohammed Siraj bowling like he did on his first appearance at Lord's was great. What happened on the field charged us up and gave us the motivation. We decided 60 overs was our mark but the breakthroughs came with the new ball.
"When we got on top the crowd got behind us and we were happy with the support. We fed off that energy. It's a day late celebration for Independence Day. It's the best feeling we can give the Indians here and back in India. We have three matches to go and we will be just as intense."
It seems like Michael Vaughan is right about England firing up India with the verbals, according to Virat Kohli.

I arrived this morning and fully expected England to win this game. Never in my wildest dreams did I have what I saw this morning happening. I'd love to know why. The tactics were so far off the mark.
India captain Virat Kohli: "I feel super proud of the whole team. The way we stuck to our plans with the ball and our performance with the bat was outstanding.
"The pitch didn't offer much in the first three days. The way we played this morning with Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Burmah with the bat was important. We believed we could get them out in 60 overs and the bowlers were outstanding.
"The tension at the end when our bowlers batted helped us. It took a lot character to play in these circumstances. They put their hand up for the team. They then charged up and gave us breakthroughs with the new ball. When we were our most successful as our team our lower order was contributing so we knew we had to go back to that. I think the belief was missing but now they have that desire. We know how priceless those runs are and it proved the case day."
