Here's Michael Vaughan off his long run...

He has been far from impressed with England so far today.

England have been stretched in terms of their skill levels and mentality, but it comes down to this. What set of players have the mentality to get their team over the line?

I just wonder... why not Jos Buttler to open? Or at three?

That partnership between Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah ended up being an unbroken 89 off 120 balls.

Shami finishes on 56 nout, while Bumrah was unbeaten on 34.

They have heaped all the pressure on England.

There's something incredibly baffling and exciting and wonderful about watching tailenders bat like that.

England will need to score at 4.53 runs an over to win.

With this high-class India bowling line-up, and the grey skies over Lord's, that is extremely unlikely.

  7. Postpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 16 August 2021

Hmmmm. Jos Buttler was very quick to get to the boundary edge there.

Jonny Bairstow stayed in the middle with Joe Root to speak to the groundsman about what roller they wanted.

Are England going to go for this?

  8. India declarepublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 16 August 2021

    Ind 298-8, lead by 271

That is it. Virat Kohli has had enough after Mohammed Shami edges past Joe Root for four.

There are 60 overs left in the day. England will need 272 to win. India will need 10 wickets.

After a delay of three or four minutes we're ready to go again.

That might be one less over England have to face later...

Virat Kohli has just reapplied some aftershave while we wait.

  11. Postpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 16 August 2021

We've got a slight delay as Mohammed Shami effectively strips so he can sort his thigh guard out...

    England probably won't mind this.

    Four more!

Jasprit Bumrah drives through mid-on, and a misfield from James Anderson gives India, and Bumrah, another boundary.

Virat Kohli is having his fingers taped in the changing room.

What has happened there!?! Ollie Robinson sends one down the legside and it dips and curves under the bat of Jasprit Bumrah and runs away for four byes.

Robinson beats the outside edge next up. That's three times he has been beaten Bumrah since lunch. It is almost as if top of off sump is a good idea...

Ollie Robinson will get us going after lunch. It is dark at Lord's - the floodlights are beaming.

Virat Kohli is in his whites and is tying his shoelaces on the balcony. The declaration shouldn't be too far away.

There are a minimum of 64 overs left in the day. But we will lose two when India declare, or are bowled out.

Remember it is a minimum, so India can bowl more if they are quick, and will have the option of an extra half hour if they are within touching distance of victory.

Match saving or match winning? That is the question.

England, from being in a position in a position of strength, didn't know how to get that key moment going their way. They didn't have that instinct to keep it simple. They over thought it and got it in their head that they had to be really complicated with their field settings and it has given India a small chance of winning this game.

I wonder how much it will impact the rest of the series.
