That was slightly flirtatious and dangerous, but it was nicely timed by Ajinkya Rahane.
It's still swinging a lot for Sam Curran - Rahane gets an inside edge onto his pad, Curran scurries down the wicket in attempt to reach it but can't get there.
Next ball is flashed away for four past gully - slightly uppish but it flies away to the boundary in the end.

When England have bowled first at home this is only the second time that one of their opening bowlers has taken three wickets in their opening spell, since 2000 when Andy Caddick did so against Zimbabwe at Lord's.
The only other occasion was Stuart Broad's 8-15 on day one at Trent Bridge.

I wonder if it is because of the footmarks - they are quite pronounced for this early in the game. I wonder if the ball will grip?
I don't mind this decision.
Just the one run from Moeen Ali's first over. Probably didn't expect to see spin this early, but it's a good start.

This is rather curious...
It's Moeen Ali who replaces Anderson.
I'll mention him one last time (promise), just to show you the big wicket of Kohli.
Rohit 9, Rahane 1
Ajinkya Rahane gets off the mark from his 11th ball, just tucking one away off his hip.
It's gone a little quiet over the last couple of overs. India are digging in, England need to stay patient.
Another half-appeal for an lbw from Sam Curran, but umpire Alex Wharf was absolutely not interested. Probably going down leg.

You could almost sense Rohit Sharma just ticking off James Anderson's deliveries in that over.
It has been eight overs of stellar Test-match bowling by Anderson.
Rohit 9, Rahane 0
Another maiden. Is that Anderson done for the morning? He's bowled eight, so you'd probably think so.
Rohit Sharma will be relieved.

Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma almost know this is James Anderson's last over so it is about taking no risks. That is unusual for Rohit.
A half-hearted appeal for a catch at third slip - umpire says no, Root considers a review but there doesn't seem to be any edge and it looked way too high for an lbw.
Replays confirm it was off the thigh pad.

They always say to look up when you come to Headingley, but if we do that today there is blue sky with just some puffy white clouds.
Come on now, Pete. Can't we just enjoy what's happening now? Please?
(But I kind of share your worries.)

Now, call me a pessimist, but whenever I see England doing so well with the ball I automatically think it must be the pitch and start worrying that they will do terribly with the bat. I hope not. Three-day Test anyone?

A rare loose ball goes to the boundary, but it's a leg bye - much to Rohit Sharma's annoyance, you'd imagine.
