England will obviously have to work harder than they did in India's first innings. But they will go on to win the Test, whether it be tomorrow or on Saturday.

Today at the Test is on BBC FOUR at 19:00 BST today, rather than BBC Two.

There's some Diamond League Athletics on BBC Two instead.

They are repeated on BBC Two at midnight, or available to watch on iPlayer when you wish.

    • That means they added 303 runs for the loss of eight wickets on day at Headingley

The most important thing for India is to not look at the scoreboard. Just come out and bat as long as possible.

What has happened to India from Lord's to Headingley? They have arrived and played like a really poor cricket team, which they're not.

England batter Haseeb Hameed on Sky Sports: "Yesterday was pretty much a perfect day and today we were able to build on that. We are very happy going in to tomorrow.

"There's so much you can learn as a young player from Joe Root. He's of the highest class but for me, what stands out is the simplicity of his game. He plays like he has so much time, he's so diligent and also mentally, to turn up and perform in every innings shows how hungry he is.

"That first innings at Lord's is a bit of a blur now! But I'm very happy to contribute here. I felt a lot more comfortable opening the batting so to go on and get a 50 plus score was really nice.

"It was important for Rory and myself to just bat and not think too much about the wicket. You can overthink it when you've just seen a team get all out for 78 so we just went out there and played with good intent."

The best teams in the world adapt. This India team are a good team but can't be up their with the best unless they're willing to try things differently.

India haven't bowled that well in the Test. Bumrah was good, Shami in spells, but they didn't get enough support.

England also lost Moeen Ali and Sam Curran after Joe Root was dismissed.

Curran did share 35 with Craig Overton though, as England look their lead comfortably over 300.

They eventually finished on 423-8, a lead of 345.

I like the substance of Malan at three and the experience of Bairstow at five, which could be replaced by Ben Stokes. I think Buttler is a concern, he doesn't seem to have the rhythm for Test cricket.

In between the wickets of Dawid Malan and Joe Root England also lost Jonny Bairstow, who made 29 in quick time, and Jos Buttler for seven.

Just think of the debate we were having a few years ago about Joe Root's conversion rate. It was something which was tormenting even him.

Two perfect days of Test cricket. Burns and Hameed played nicely, set the foundation and made sure England didn't lose wickets. Dawid Malan looked settled, looks like he knows his game and has confidence in his ability.

Then the skipper once again. You know from the time Joe Root got to about six that he would get to 100. He's playing so well and knows his game so well.

At the other end Joe Root was once again superb in making 121.

It was his sixth century of the year - pulling him level with Michael Vaughan and Denis Compton for Test centuries for England in a calendar year.

It was another animated celebration from Root, and he was embraced by good friend Jonny Bairstow.

Dawid Malan and Joe Root then put on 139 for the third wicket.

Malan, playing his first Test for two years, made 70, before getting a thin edge down the leg side.

As usual, he was particularly strong through the off side.

England resumed this morning on 120-0, after bowling out India 78 on day one.

It was slow going with India's bowling, particularly that of Jasprit Bumrah's, being much better.

Mohammed Shami got Rory Burns in the first hour, before Ravindra Jadeja got Haseeb Hameed.

England dominated day one by a country mile. The question was whether they could back it up on day two? They have.
