Jos Buttler is, rightly, looking to be very busy. He drops into the covers and hares off a single. Thankfully Joe Root is on the same wavelength and they both comfortably get through.

Root goes a little casual, as he looks to work down to third, and gets beaten by Mohammed Shami.

Where do I apply for Root and Anderson to reimburse my ticket for day five?

    Jamie, Sunderland

Jos Buttler gets off the mark by working a single into mid-wicket.

Imagine what the Western Terrace will be like if he gets going? Noisy.

Watch this once. Watch this twice. You'll probably enjoy it that much you want to watch it a third and fourth time too.

Catch it! OK, I'm being harsh.

Jos Buttler looks to turn away, and it cannons straight into the knee of Cheteshwar Pujara under the lid at short leg.

It would have been an absolute blinder.

Jos Buttler is the new batter.

This is the sort of position England want to see Buttler bat in. Can he make the most of the platform he has been given?

It was a really good again from Mohammed Shami, getting that length right and forcing Bairstow on the front foot.

It's a good catch, taken when you feel like nothing is happening for you.

    Bairstow c Kohli b Shami 29 (Eng 350-4)

Gone! A mini fist pump from Virat Kohli.

It is another example of a perfect seam position from Mohammed Shami and he draws Jonny Bairstow into a defensive prod, which catches the outside edge.

It is a really good catch from Kohli, actually. It went pretty low, and he had Rishabh Pant starting to fly across him.

Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root exchange singles, before the former sweeps fine for four more.

That is 12 off the over, and the pair have now shared 50.

It has come in just 78 balls, and 49 minutes since the tea interval.

    Jonny Bairstow!

He dispatches Ravindra Jadeja about 10 rows back over mid-wicket.

Buckle up folks. This could be carnage from here on in.

Jonny Bairstow keeps the strike with a nudge into the leg side.

England are happy with just notching up the lead here. They are in no rush. They will want to bat, bat and bat some more.

Joe Root now has 23 Test centuries for England, level with Kevin Pietersen in second spot. They are just the 10 behind a certain Sir Alastair Cook...

In the so-called 'big four' - Kane Williamson, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith and Joe Root - you almost feel like he dropped out of the club in the last couple of years but there's no denying his ability. He now has that ruthless ability to kick off from fifty to three figures.
