    Shanaka b Leach 4 (SL 296-7)

    Yorked him!

That's a beautiful delivery from Jack Leach. There's a bit of dip and it sneaks under the bat of Dasun Shanaka, spins back a bit and cannons into middle stump.

There's a big shout of "yesss!" from Jos Buttler.

Sri Lanka, in effect, are 10-7.

Dasun Shanaka is the new batsman and he gets off the mark with a sweep down to fine leg.

Dom Bess has 3-77 in this innings, to add to his 5-30 in the first innings.

That's a poor shot. He's gifted Dom Bess another wicket.

Dickwella is looking at his bat as he walks off. A nothing sort of shot. Buttler has had a good game behind the stumps, and England can dare to breathe again.

    Dickwella c Buttler b Bess 29 (SL 291-6)

    And he strikes first ball!

That's a soft dismissal for me. The kind that will have Mickey Arthur stomping round the changing room.

Niroshan Dickwella just tries to late cut, but gets a feather of an edge through to Jos Buttler, who completes a good catch.

An opening for England. Sri Lanka are effectively 5-6.

Now one is spitting and bouncing off the pitch! Maybe it is about to come to life again - it has been pretty docile today.

Jos Buttler does brilliantly behind the stumps to take that too. He has been very tidy.

That kept low and it came off the bottom edge of the bat. It's nutmegged Jos Buttler. There didn't seem to be much on it from Leach.

  12. Sri Lanka take the leadpublished at 09:01 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

    SL 289-5

A strike of fortune about it, though.

A Jack Leach delivery keeps a little bit low and a bottom edge from Angelo Mathews nutmegs Jos Buttler and runs away.

Angelo Mathews has been very restrained so far. It's been a very responsible innings.

    Trail by one

Niroshan Dickwella has looked scratchy in the last few minutes as he misses another drive out of the rough.

Sri Lanka trail by just one, but there's now spots of rain in the air.

More groundstaff are appearing, and moving into position.

The fourth umpire is with them too. That's not a good sign.

In the circumstances of the match, that is a horrendous shot from Dickwella. Mickey Arthur will be saying 'what are you doing?'

  17. SL 282-5published at 113 overs

    Trail by four

What is it with players trying the reverse sweep on this pitch? Niroshan Dickwella does it three times in that Jack Leach over.

First time he msses completely, as it just goes on with the arm, and Jos Buttler does well to collect down the leg side.

Second time he misses again and he picks up a couple of byes, before he finally makes contact with one and picks up a couple.

Sri Lanka trail by just four.
