Before that wicket Mark Wood hadn't taken a wicket with his last 11 overs against West Indies in Southampton in July, and his first 39 overs in this series, so he'd gone 50 overs without a wicket in Test cricket.
Mark Wood is persisting with a leg side trap to Angelo Mathews - he has tickled the ball fine a few times, so why not shove someone there to take any chance of a catch? Maiden.
Joe Root is miming surfing. I don't know why.

Mathews 94, Dickwella 0
Niroshan Dickwella has joined Angelo Mathews out in the middle, but he's at the non striker's end as Jack Leach wheels through another over.
There's a bit more turn for the spinner, but Mathews sends a back foot push away for three runs.

Mark Wood deserves that, he's come steaming in all day. You could just see the relief in his face.
That could just open the door for England. That's what you've got to do in the subcontinent - you've got to be right on for it the new batsman.
Mark Wood's water will taste that little bit sweeter after claiming his first wicket of the tour.

That is a big blow struck by Mark Wood.
Chandimal lbw Wood 52 (SL 193-4)
Gone!
A well-deserved wicket for Mark Wood, who has toiled admirably today. I think it's the pace that's done for Dinesh Chandimal as he looked to turn Wood off his pads, and instead the ball has clattered into the pads. Three reds on the technology, and the Sri Lanka skip has to go.

It looked a pretty good shout.
There was a real sense of relief from Mark Wood.
Gosh, you could feel Mark Wood's relief as he celebrated.
This is out, I think.
Out! Mark Wood has his first wicket of the series!

Angelo Mathews, unbeaten on 90, tries to tickle Mark Wood off his hip but the man at leg slip stops him from snaffling a run.

The England team will know now that they've got some work to do for Joe Root to get both of his hands on the Moose Clothing Cup.
They are going to be in a scrap. Sri Lanka have played very nicely from that start this morning.
SL 192-3
Oh, was that a run out chance? Dinesh Chandimal nudges a single off Jack Leach and sets off - it's tight but James Anderson can't collect the ball cleanly. It trickles away behind him and Anderson ends up swinging a football kick at fresh air.

A rare freebie from Mark Wood, overpitching with a knee high full toss that Angelo Mathews tickles fine for four.

It is getting to that time of the day where England are going to start searching. They might start looking for a DRS that isn't there and you get excited when the ball beats the outside edge.
I don't know if it's just my tiredness but it seems like England have bowled very slowly today. It is hot, mind - I would't be running around trying to change ends as quickly as I could, I have to say.
