    Dickwella c Leach b Anderson 92 (SL 332-7)

    Gone! Anderson has five.

Niroshan Dickwella has hardly played a false shot all day but he's fallen into the trap eight short of a first Test century.

Jimmy Anderson throws it up wide, the left-hander goes for a big drive and he chips the ball in the air to mid-off. It's a really good catch from Jack Leach going to his right as well.

The outfield has certainly quickened up. Perera did nothing more than wait for that and then guide it past Joe Root at slip.

  3. SL 332-6published at 120 overs

England do have a remarkable skill of making players with fairly average records look like world beaters.

Dilruwan Perera plays a late cut Mahela would have been proud of off Leach. Four more to the total.

You see it so many times - a team take a punt on a review then don't review a much closer shout if it occurs soon after.

  5. SL 327-6published at 119 overs

I tell you what we've seen the Ultra-edge of that caught behind in Leach's last over. There's a big spike as the ball passes the bat but at the same time Perera also looks like he has hit his pad.

It's hard to tell what the spike is. I think it might be both bat and pad.

  6. SL 327-6published at 118.4 overs

Dickwella sends the seagulls scattering by flicking off his pads into the leg side. Sam Curran runs around but can't prevent three.

Bowler Jimmy Anderson is off stomping back to his mark before the throw comes in. He's getting grumpy.

In the sub-continent, you can almost set your watch by the time it's going to turn. It's almost like the pitch has had enough. It starts to go, and it goes quickly.

Perera may have hit his pad there. That might have been the noise Buttler heard. We will need to see Ultra-edge for a definitive view.

That is the first ball that has really kicked and turned.

That did spin. It was the perfect delivery to the right-hander, pressing forward.

Turn! A beauty from Jack Leach. Jos Buttler seems certain there's an thin edge but after a chat Joe Root does not review.

    Dickwella 87, D Perera 22

Dilruwan Perera, who averages 18 in Tests, blocks the ball back down the pitch to Anderson using the dead centre of his bat. Hmmm.

It is a good pitch - but you get the feeling that when it goes, it might go quickly.

  14. SL 323-6published at 116.3 overs

England have three catchers relatively close on the off side as Anderson bowlers to Dickwella. They're hoping he'll pop one in the air.

Instead, the left-hander guides the ball to third man again for a single.

Adam Davies: If at any point in India we have them 325-6 I'll be pretty happy. In the sub-continent you have to accept 450 as a minimum first innings score. Any less and the bowling team have done well. Now it's up to England to prove they can bat properly.

That was a scattergun over all in all from Leach. Too short, too full, too short, too full. Easy pickings.

That was wishful thinking. There was a hint of desperation about it.

Not even close. It pitched a few inches outside leg and I don't think it would have hit the stumps anyway.

In fairness, Root did have all three reviews left.

I think this has pitched a long way outside leg stump.
