Oh! There is a spike! The tiniest of nicks has done for Angelo Mathews.
It's come back a long way...

The sound didn't sound wooden to me. This reflects England are desperate for a wicket.
There was a big gap between bat and pad and the ball snuck through it.
I think this is just pad, though...
He certainly does.
We're going upstairs to check a caught behind shout against Angelo Mathews.

Anderson just makes the ball talk, doesn't he?
Ooh. The first delivery from Anderson nips back, finding a bit of extra bounce from this placid pitch, and strikes Angelo Mathews in a very unfortunate area.
It'll be Jimmy Anderson to share opening bowling duties.

It's 29 years ago today since I met you for the first time, Tuffers - you destroyed New Zealand to win a Test match. I had to go and find you for an interview and you were behind the pavilion having a cigarette.

A bit of width from Sam Curran and Angelo Mathews frees his arms, sending a drive through point, and only a terrific dive from Dom Bess in the deep stops the ball from reaching the boundary rope. Excellent work by Bess, who went full pelt over the boundary foams as he flicked the ball back behind him.

I think I can hear Randy Caddick singing on the ramparts.
Angelo Mathews knocks the first ball down at his feet, and we're off.
Angelo Mathews will resume on 107, and he's got Niroshan Dickwella on 19 for company.
Sam Curran will get things going for England.
Right. Let's do some cricket.

We're not asking the spinners to be ragging it, to be like Muttiah Muralitharan or Shane Warne, but apply some pressure and take the batsman out of his comfort zone. Cut down on giving away easy runs. Keep somebody on strike and create pressure that way.

Tom: It’s 4am, it’s Saturday morning, and it’s not just because of insomnia that I’m awake. It’s Aggers, it’s Tuffers, it’s Sir Alastair Cook, it’s BBC TMS, it's RROOOOOTTTT, it’s Jimmy, it’s time for day two of Sri Lanka v England! Fingers crossed for early wickets.

We're trying to be charitable and fair to England's spinners - they haven't had much practice - but if they bowl like this in India, there's going to be some big scores posted against them.
It's gonna be another hot one in Galle.
