West Indies are fighting hard in the first Test against Bangladesh, where they have taken lunch at 197-3. They still need another 198 runs to pull off a famous win, but debutants Kyle Mayers (91 not out) and Nkrumah Bonner (43 not out) are looking in good nick. You can follow that game via our scorecard here.

  2. Ind 51-2published at 11 overs

This feels slightly chaotic at the moment. England are absolutely bouncing, and it seems to have got India's adrenaline going too.

I'm not sure about the tactics when Ben Stokes is bowling, though. There are fielders spread everywhere - second slip, gully, leg slip, short leg, short square leg. It may work, but when you've taken two wickets in the first 10 overs you can go more conventional for now surely?

Stokes is a bit loose and Cheteshwar Pujara crunches a cut away to the boundary.

This is fantastic, absorbing Test cricket.

Joe Root is absolutely loving it out there. He's smiling, laughing, clapping.

  5. Ind 45-2published at 10 overs

    Pujara 9, Kohli 1

Virat Kohli is the new batsman. If you'd said to England that the India skipper would be in after 10 overs they would be absolutely delighted.

James Anderson loved that catch. He jumped straight up, threw the ball up in celebration and put his arms out. Jofra Archer was laughing, I don't think he expected that delivery to get a wicket.

Archer has been superb. That is a superb bouncer to Kohli too, who doesn't look that comfortable against it, as he fends it, off the glove, just past short leg. He beats Cheteshwar Pujara to end the over too.

    A magnificent over.

Oh my! Where has that come from!?! A superb low diving catch from Jimmy Anderson at mid-on.

Shubman Gill has timed the first ball of the over to the mid-wicket fence again, but he doesn't time this one. It's clever bowling from Jofra Archer, as he runs his fingers down the side of the ball, and Anderson does brilliantly to dive forward and take a very good low catch.

This is exactly the start England wanted, and needed!

Robin Evans: His first-class record speaks for itself, but Shubman Gill looks like he's played at Test level for years. So classy.

  8. Ind 40-1published at 9 overs

    Three singles off the over.

England must be confident in Ben Stokes' fitness and knee if they are asking him to bowl like this so early in the innings.

  9. Ind 38-1published at 8.2 overs

Ermmm. Ben Stokes is starting round the wicket, looking to bowl bouncers into the ribs of the right-handers. It's the ninth over...

Slightly strange tactics from England. This is something they'd usually be doing when the opposition are 200-1.

The TV commentary is debating whether it's part of strategy to create a little bit of extra rough for Dom Bess.

  10. Postpublished at 05:32 Greenwich Mean Time 7 February 2021

Ben Stokes is going to replace James Anderson.

Stokes could be a handful on this pitch if there is any variable bounce.

Virat Kohli has his gloves and helmet on in the Indian changing room. That cannot be comfortable.

Shubman Gill looks like he's going to be fine to continue here.

  13. Ind 37-1published at 8 overs

Shubman Gill is only 21. This is his fourth Test, with a high score of 91 so far during the series against Australia. He averages 66.55 in 26 first-class matches. A serious talent.

He's looked equal to everything England have thrown at him so far as he sways perfectly out the way of a Jofra Archer bouncer.

Archer raps him on the glove, as he looks to turn to fine leg, to end the over. The physio is going to come out and have a look.

The was a minute's silence before play in Chittagong this morning as Bangladesh and West Indies paid their respects to former Windies fast bowler Ezra Moseley.

Moseley, who played for Glamorgan in the early 1980s, died in a road crash in Barbados yesterday aged 63.

He famously broke Graham Gooch's hand in a Test in the West Indies in 1990.

In the Test, debutants Shayne Moseley and Nkrumah Bonner are holding up Bangladesh in their push for victory. West Indies are 194-3, needing another 201, while Bangladesh require seven more wickets to win.

    Latest score.

  15. Ind 35-1published at 7 overs

    Gill 22, Pujara 7

They've just shown the snicko of the delivery that beat Cheteshwar Pujara in the last over. There was a slight noise, but that was from the bottom of the bat hitting the inside of his pad. That's good from England not reviewing that, because I imagine without the crowds that noise was audible.

Wow! Shubman Gill is a serious timer of the ball. First he flicks to square leg, before mid-wicket. Both of those shots have absolutely flew to the boundary.

England have a short mid-off in for the opener. A weakness they've spotted?

We asked earlier if you liked the no-ball klaxon. Here are the results - it is a lot closer than I anticipated.

Thankfully we haven't heard it during England's bowling efforts yet.

  17. Ind 27-1published at 6 overs

    Gill 14, Pujara 7

Another beauty from Jofra Archer as he beats the defence of Cheteshwar Pujara. There's a strangled appeal from behind the stumps too, but that's more out of excitement.

Pujara has already demonstrated his ability with a gloriously balanced flick through mid-wicket.

A lot has been made of England’s last Test played in Chennai when they lost by an innings despite scoring 477 batting first.

But England do have some better memories of games played in the city.

Back in 1985, Graeme Fowler and Mike Gatting both made double hundreds in a famous win at what was then called the Chepauk Stadium: 652-7 declared their first-innings total.

More recently, England have good limited-overs memories of the ground. In the 2011 World Cup, they pulled off two thrilling and vital wins in Chennai that kept them in the tournament.

South Africa collapsed from 124-3 to 165 all out as England won by six runs. Then they beat West Indies by 18 runs in another gripping game at the ground a few days later.

It was also a significant match for TMS as Andy Zaltzman made his first appearance on the programme. He was working as a reporter at the tournament as well as doing some comedy gigs out in South Asia at the time.

  19. Ind 22-1published at 5 overs

Cheteshwar Pujara could be a key wicket for England. He's got the ability to bat for extremely long periods of time and soak up pressure.

He moves to three with a mistimed cut through the covers.

I wonder who will replace James Anderson when the time comes? Ben Stokes or straight to one of the spinners? Stokes could be a handful on this pitch as the game progresses, I reckon.
