James Anderson is replacing Jofra Archer.

Talk in our team chat has turned to how England will approach their innings. When they needed quick runs against West Indies in the summer they opened with Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler. That experiment didn't go too well, before Rory Burns and Joe Root combined in a big partnership to put England in a match-winning position.

Ishant Sharma is the new batsman - he averages 8.37 in Test cricket and has a high-score of 57.

England will want to wrap this innings up before lunch at 06:00 GMT.

    Yes, Jack Leach.

Shahbaz Nadeem definitely didn't look comfortable. It was all block, block, block, with no real intent or idea of how to score. That is always dangerous on a pitch like this, and when there is a little bit of extra bounce he can only edge, off the top of the bat, to Ben Stokes at slip.

It has been an excellent bit of captaincy from Joe Root to turn to Leach.

Chris Wilson: Jack Leach is back.

  6. Ind 312-7published at 90 overs

Four more for Washington Sundar as he guides through the slip cordon. This is his highest score in Test now.

Do England need to target the stumps more here? This is where leaving Stuart Broad out could hurt them. There's definite signs of slowness, and deliveries keeping low, as Sundar gets a genuine edge off Archer, but the ball bounces about two metres behind the batsman and almost bounces twice before getting to Ben Stokes at slip.

That delivery was 86.9mph and it has got nowhere near the slips.

Vishal Wable: Excellent partnership. The tail now has to stand alongside Washington Sundar till lunch.

  8. Ind 308-7published at 89 overs

Washington Sundar does like padding up, out of the rough, outside the off stump. England used two reviews yesterday when he did, one was nowhere near, the other only just went over the top of the stumps.

He's continued to do it this morning, but he's choosing the right balls to do it to at the moment. Neither have been anywhere near close to hitting the stumps.

Could it get him in trouble though?

    That'll be drinks.

    That is definitely India's hour.

  12. Ind 307-7published at 88 overs

I say Shahbaz Nadeem only averages 14, but he does have a first-class century. He's definitely got the ability to hang around and frustrate England here.

It feels like things are starting to happen a little bit now. One keeps pretty low, before Archer finds a little bit of away movement to beat the outside edge of Washington Sundar.

Ugh. The klaxon is back. That is the first time we've heard it in the England bowling effort to be fair.

It gets Archer one delivery at Shahbaz Nadeem but he doesn't execute the yorker properly - it's too full and down the leg side.

  13. Postpublished at 04:57 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2021

Jofra Archer will continue. He'll be desperate to get at Shahbaz Nadeem.

Shahbaz Nadeem, who averages 14.64 in first-class cricket, is the new batsman.

India are still a massive 273 runs behind, 74 away from avoiding the follow-on.

Can England go bang, bang, bang? And preferably bang, bang, bang, bang.

    LeachImage source, BCCI

Yes, he can! Massive breakthrough for England.

Ravichandran Ashwin, looking to defend, pushes a bit hard at the ball, and there's a little bit of extra bounce and it pops up into the air and Jos Buttler sprints from behind the stumps and takes a brilliant diving catch about eight yards away from the pitch to find the breakthrough.

Great start from Jack Leach and more excellent work from Buttler.

    Jack Leach replaces James Anderson.

Can he get a little bit of extra grip and bounce with the harder ball?

  19. Ind 305-6published at 86 overs

Jofra Archer, as you'd expect with his extra pace and height, is definitely getting more out of the surface than James Anderson.

He gets a little bit of extra pop that forces Washington Sundar to drop his bottom hand off the bat as he looks to defend.

Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes are clapping behind the stumps, encouraging Archer. England are desperate to break this 80-run partnership.

  20. Ind 304-6published at 85.2 overs

    Catch it!

Jofra Archer finally gets a little bit more out of the surface, and Ravichandran Ashwin, looking to turn into the leg side, gets a thick leading edge and it flies through the vacant second and third slip region.

    Encouraging for England.
