Any more suggestions as footballers as cricketers will be greatly received. Jordan Henderson would absolutely be Paul Collingwood.

Rohit has just plonked Stokes for six over the leg side and follows it with another four. Rohit means business.

  2. Ind 37-1published at 11 overs

You may have seen Italian football legend Christian Vieri saying he's a big cricket fan this week. He says he is an opening batsman in the Chris Gayle mould.

I reckon if Dennis Bergkamp was a cricketer he'd be Rohit. All class.

  4. Eng 36-1published at 10 overs

    Rohit 29, Pujara 7

It's a battle of two contrasting styles at the crease. Rohit is all elegance and is timing the ball very nicely. Pujara is awkward, slightly ugly. He creeps onto the front foot like he needs a bit of oil.

  5. Ind 35-1published at 9.1 overs

Ben Stokes is on ending an impressive opening burst from Olly Stone. Straight away Stokes is driven to the boundary by Rohit. Unsurprisingly the crowd, which continues to grow in size, loves it.

  6. Ind 31-1published at 9 overs

Pujara plods onto the front foot and despite a bit of excitement from Ben Foakes behind the stumps the ball is defended with ease.

There's turn already but not masses. Yet.

  7. Not outpublished at 04:48 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

It's a really, really bad review in fact. The ball hardly turned and would have gone a long way down leg.

That may be the first thing Root has done wrong all winter.

The England players are already walking away from their huddle. This is not a great review I don't think.

  9. England reviewpublished at 04:46 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2021

Hmmm. England are going for an early review. It's lbw to Rohit. I'm not sure it turned enough.

  10. Ind 30-1published at 8.1 overs

There's a minor explosion from the pitch when Leach bowls his first ball. It looks a good toss to have won.

Ra Na: Re Paddy, Pujara reminds of wrestler Kamala from the old WWF days where he got stronger with every beating.

It's time for some spin. I think there'll be a lot of it today. Jack Leach, who dismissed both of these batsmen during the second innings of the first Test, replaces Broad.

  13. Ind 29-1published at 8 overs

    Rohit 23, Pujara 6

There are already puffs of dust when the seamers hurls the ball into the pitch. It could be really fun batting on this later in the match.

Rohit is in a hurry. Stone loses his line for the first time and the right-hander cuts him hard for four. He has 23 from 24 balls.

  14. Ind 22-1published at 7 overs

    Rohit 17, Pujara 5

Broad appeals for an lbw - what's new!? - but Rohit got a big inside edge. England's bandana wearing seamer has conceded 17 runs this morning and Stone just the one.

Make that 21. Rohit plays a strange chip over the top of mid-on that goes for four. He didn't mean to do that, I don't think.

  15. Ind 16-1published at 6 overs

More good stuff from Stone, who gets a pat on the back from Root at the end of the over. He nudged 91mph there.

Paddy Sidwell: Has Pujara ever considered NOT getting hit 5 times every innings?

After a bit of treatment Pujara is good to continue.

  18. ouch!

    Ind 16-1published at 5.3 overs

Olly Stone has been really good so far. He has been more threatening than Broad. Now he has hit Cheteshwar Pujara on the thumb. On comes the physio.

  19. Ind 16-1published at 5 overs

    Rohit 12, Pujara 4

You've messed up there, Mr Beerbelli. I'm going to guess that isn't your real name.

Rohit almost plays onto his stumps from Broad and then decides he's much better driving than leaving. Lovely stuff down the ground from the best-looking batsman in the world.

    Broad is getting steadily redder.
