No need to panic. We're missing three of the world's best seamers in Woakes, Archer and Wood, as well as two of our most important batsmen in Root and Morgan, this India team is very good, and we won't prioritise ODIs until the T20 World Cup is over anyway. This is not the end of the world, and hopefully can be a good learning experience for the B list players.

Just ridiculous. Rishabh Pant has smacked Sam Curran for six with one hand on the bat.

This first ball from Pandya was almost like he was batting against the bowling machine. He knew exactly where it was going to be.

One of the flaws in England's preferred plan to chase down a score is that when the ball gets bashed all over by the team batting first England risk being tired, hot and demoralised going into bat. How much energy will England have when they come out to bat?

    Well that didn't take long!

Hardik Pandya thumps his first ball way back for six.

  8. Ind 273-4published at 45overs

That wicket only brings Hardik Pandya to the middle. It doesn't get any easier for England.

You've got to give Tom Curran his dues there. A wicket and only six runs from the over.

Relief for Tom Curran! He has a wicket. Kl Rahul's steady, well-played hundred is over as he pulls to Reece Topley in the deep.

These scenarios really test you as a bowler. Two heavily set batters with power hitters to come...fight or flight.

  11. Ind 270-3published at 44.3 overs

It has been singles only so far in this Tom Curran over.

  12. Ind 269-3published at 44.2 overs

Pant grumbles as Rahul turns down a second run on the arm.

  13. Ind 268-3published at 44.1 overs

Curran's field, with fine leg and third man up, looks set for yorkers.

It's a change of ends for Tom Curran.

My esteemed colleague Stephan Shemilt tells me he has taken 1-372 since the 2019 World Cup in ODIs...

10 from the over. I'd say England need a wicket but that would only bring one of the Pandyas in.

But England can't stop the boundaries. Having kept the batsmen quiet, Curran bowls a full toss and is drilled back down the ground.

Dinesh Karthik made that revelation on the Sky commentary earlier. KL Rahul refers to himself as King Legend. Remarkable.

This has been a decent over so far from Sam Curran.

100 for King Legend Rahul. Not my name for him, but his! The day’s best cricketing revelation so far.

You can't keep him quiet for long. KL Rahul couldn't buy a run in the T20s but now has his fifth ODI hundred.

He celebrates by putting his fingers in his his ears. A message to his critics? Looks like it.

James G: Sorry but I reckon some village cricketers would be disappointed by this bowling. Terrible over from Tom Curran! Keep bowling it in the slot outside leg stump and you will go for 22 in an over!
