    Somerset 255-7 v Gloucestershire

And the new ball has done the trick after five balls!

Lewis Gregory is the man to fall and Somerset's lower-order are now tasked with just keeping Steven Davies for company.

A 65-run partnership has put Derbyshire in control.

Matthew Critchley is going well on 78 from 103 balls while keeper-batsman Harvey Hosein has made a steady 32 from 58.

But you never know. Two quick wickets and the Pears could be right back in this. It's a long game red-ball cricket.

    Somerset 249-6 v Gloucestershire

The second new cherry at Taunton feels like a big one here.

Steven Davies remains on 83 not out, with Lewis Gregory (eight not out) for company.

If Somerset can get through this next spell and edge past 300 they'll be pretty satisfied, but if Gloucestershire can break this partnership quickly they'll hope to bring the innings to an abrupt close.

    Kent v Yorkshire 260-6

Yorkshire are ticking along nicely now with Dom Bess up to 27.

He's part of a 20-run partnership with Jordan Thompson (eight not out). Kent will want another quick burst of wickets to take back control.

Part-timer Jack Leaning has just been given an over. He's the seventh different bowler the hosts have used so far.

  5. Postpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Nottinghamshire 210-8 v Warwickshire

A fourth wicket for Will Rhodes and an eighth for Warwickshire as Stuart Broad is caught by Tim Bresnan.

Broad had raced to 21 off 19 balls, having struck five fours.

Told you he wasn't hanging around.

  6. Postpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Lancashire 201-4 v Northamptonshire

A steady start for Lancashire in the evening session as the creep past 200.

Only Alex Davies (57) has had a strike rate above 45 for the hosts. Northamptonshire's bowlers aren't giving anything away.

  7. Postpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Nottinghamshire 202-7 v Warwickshire

Stuart Broad is the new batter in for Nottinghamshire.

He's already struck three boundaries. I don't think he'll be blocking many.

  8. Postpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Nottinghamshire 189-7 v Warwickshire

We're back playing in Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire's Will Rhodes is continuing to take wickets.

The Bears skipper has Tom Moores' off-stump cartwheeling down the pitch. Moores falls for 31. Great start to the session for the fielding side.

  9. Postpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Glamorgan 255-6 v Sussex

Not long after tea and the 250 is up for Glamorgan.

That's a second batting point secured as Kiran Carlson the round's top scorer on day one moves to 110 not out.

  10. Teapublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Essex 96 v Durham 42-1

Durham are 42-1 at tea in Chelmsford.

They'll be hoping to reach and then move some way past Essex's first-innings 96 this evening.

  11. Postpublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Somerset 226-6 v Gloucestershire

    Gloucestershire really needed that.

Craig Overton's time in the middle is over as Ryan Higgins has the England main caught in the slips for 54.

Overton had put on 116 with Steven Davies, who remains 68 not out. Lewis Gregory is the new man in.

  12. Postpublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Essex 96 v Durham 37-1

Having lost Alex Lees inside the opening four overs, Durham have rebuilt steadily against Essex.

Will Young (12 not out) and Scott Borthwick (20 not out) have guided the visitors to 37-1, only trailing by 59.

  13. Postpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Surrey v Leicestershire 130-1

    Breakthrough at last!

While his brother Craig continues to impress with the bat down at Taunton, Jamie Overton has got the crucial breakthrough at The Oval for Surrey.

He dismisses Hassan Azad for 55 to break the 130-run opening stand between him and Sam Evans (71 not out)

Kiran Carlson led Glamorgan’s recovery from an early-afternoon stutter with an attractive century off 152 balls at Sophia Gardens.

He rode his luck with a couple of sharp chances missed by Sussex in a stand of 68 with Dan Douthwaite, who has mostly reined in his usual attacking instincts.

Ollie Robinson has been by far the pick of the Sussex attack with 4-41, reducing Glamorgan to 23-3 early on before a century stand between Carlson and David Lloyd, who made an aggressive 84 in his new opening role before edging Henry Crocombe to slip.

The visitors have not managed to back up the good work of their opening bowlers Robinson and Crocombe, with Glamorgan just about back in front going into the evening session.

  15. 'An extraordinary afternoon'published at 16:14 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Hampshire 202-6 v Middlesex

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

An extraordinary afternoon brought Middlesex charging back at Hampshire as five wickets fell for 125 runs in the session.

A tight morning brought little reward for the visitors but they were quickly about their work after Lunch after Tom Alsop top edged a Steven Finn bouncer.

The hosts settled again though, and at 128-2 looked to be setting a solid foundation until Ian Holland and James Vince became the two quick wickets that Middlesex desperately desired.

Finn was back to pile the pressure on just before tea when perseverance paid off and Liam Dawson looked to turn one into the leg side but lifted it to mid-wicket and Nathan Sowter completed the set for all the bowlers to have take at least one scalp as Lewis McManus shouldered arms.

The pitch has enough in it for bowlers but is a tad slow so requires extreme control to keep the scoring rate down and maintain a threat, which Middlesex have done admirably.

  16. Teapublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Derbyshire 249-4 v Worcestershire

It's been a good day so far for Derbyshire, who have reached 249-4.

Matt Critchley is still there on 56 not out, an innings which has included five boundaries.

  17. Postpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Surrey v Leicestershire 112-0

Good news... we're back out at The Oval! Less good news... I think we may be here all night!

  18. Teapublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Hampshire 202-6 v Middlesex

Hampshire have had their noses in front for the majority of day one but two blows late in the afternoon have edged the tide in Middlesex's favour.

First Liam Dowson (22) and then Lewis McManus (four) both fell and Hampshire are 202-6.

  19. 100 runs

100 for Carlsonpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Glamorgan 247-6 v Sussex

What a knock from Kiran Carlson who brings up his fifth century for Glamorgan with a drive through the covers for four.

It's taken him 152 balls with 12 fours and has put Glamorgan in control of this fixture.

A few balls later and the umpires call tea.

  20. 'Emphatically Somerset's session'published at 16:02 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Somerset 222-5 v Gloucestershire

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

The Gloucestershire seam attack is being made to look distinctly one-paced by an intelligent, assertive partnership of 112 between the elegance of Steve Davies and the power of Craig Overton.

The tall Dom Goodman has impressed for Gloucestershire on debut, but as the pitch has got flatter and the ball less hard, batting has looked a much less hazardous business than it did this morning.

    Emphatically Somerset's session.
