    Nottinghamshire 273 v Warwickshire 80-3

    Stuart BroadImage source, Rex Features

We've not mentioned the match at Trent Bridge since the second ball of the day from Stuart Broad saw off Will Rhodes.

And, you have to say, that's credit to Warwickshire pair Danny Briggs (19 not out) and Sam Hain (29 not out), who've rebuilt really steadily.

  2. wicket

Lancashire 305 all outpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

Tom Hartley (25) picks out Ben Curran in the deep to give former Lancashire bowler Simon Kerrigan figures of 4-60.

Economical bowling from Northamptonshire has made scoring on this pitch appear slow. It'll be interesting to see how their batsman approach proceedings.

  3. wicket

WICKET Crawley (b Olivier) 1published at 12:00 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Kent 25-2 v Yorkshire 379

Brilliant, attacking bowling from Yorkshire's opening bowlers as Duanne Olivier bowls England international Zak Crawley for one.

A great delivery and a not so good shot. The selectors won't like that.

    Lancashire 301-9 v Northamptonshire

Lancashire finally cross the 300 mark as the last-wicket stand of Tom Hartley (25 not out) and Matthew Parkinson (17 not out) continues to frustrate the Northamptonshire bowlers.

We're into the 114th over so there's no third batting bonus point. But 300+ on this pitch seems a really good total.

  5. wicket

Hampshire 319 all outpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

And Hampshire's resistance has also been ended!

Mohammad Abbas is the last man to fall for four, with Steven Finn finishing with figures of 4-96.

Hampshire have done well to reach 319 having at one point been 252-8.

  6. Postpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Kent 18-1 v Yorkshire 379

Beautiful bowling from David Willey who traps Kent opener Daniel Bell-Drummond (13) in his second over.

Just the start Yorkshire would have wanted. England's Zak Crawley is now at the crease.

  7. wicket

Derbyshire 390 all outpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

Worcestershire have finally polished off the Derbyshire tail and Harvey Hosein is left stranded not out on 83.

It's a very decent total from the hosts.

  8. Stokes to miss New Zealand Testspublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 16 April 2021
    Breaking

Meanwhile, some breaking news from elsewhere in the world of cricket...

England all-rounder Ben Stokes will be out of action for up to 12 weeks after a scan revealed that he has a fracture of his left index finger.

That means he will miss England’s Tests against New Zealand and is a doubt for the white-ball games against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Stokes, who injured his hand attempting a catch in the deep for IPL side Rajasthan Royals, will fly home tomorrow to have surgery in England.

  9. Postpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Essex 96 v Durham 198-8

This has been a terrific effort from Stuart Poynter and Matt Salisbury this morning.

They've now shared 55 for the ninth wicket and stretched Durham's lead to beyond 100 over Essex.

  10. Postpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Kent 0-0 v Yorkshire 379

Openers Daniel Bell-Drummond and Jordan Cox are out in the middle for Kent.

And it looks like David Willey will take the new ball for Yorkshire. The hosts need a strong opening partnership.

  11. Postpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Glamorgan 285 v Sussex 115-1

Finally Glamorgan have their man as Aaron Thomason (67) is caught and bowled by Michael Hogan.

Thomason's set a great platform alongside Tom Haines (44 not out). Stiaan van Zyl the new man in. Still plenty of work to do for Glamorgan.

  12. Postpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Hampshire 314-9 v Middlesex

Hampshire had been making really good progress this morning, with Kyle Abbott bringing up his half-century.

But his 61-run partnership for the ninth wicket has come to an end after the South African was bowled by former England fast bowler Steven Finn.

Mohammad Abbas joins Brad Wheal (19 not out) at the crease.

  13. Postpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Somerset 312 v Gloucestershire 41-1

Somerset have the breakthrough and Gloucestershire's West Indies opener Kraigg Brathwaite is the man to fall on 18.

He was trapped in front by Craig Overton but wasn't particularly pleased with the decision, perhaps feeling as though he'd got an inside edge? Or that height was an issue?

Either way, Brathwaite's gone and the discussion about car parks is free to resume on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra...

  14. wicket

Yorkshire 379 all outpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Kent v Yorkshire 379

A brilliant late flurry from David Willey who finishes with 37 not out as Darren Stevens bowls number 11 Duanne Olivier for five.

A great batting display from Yorkshire with six different players making it beyond 30.

Stevens, at the age of 44, finishes with 4-60.

  15. Postpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Derbyshire 375-8 v Worcestershire

It's been a good first half an hour or so for Derbyshire, who continue to build a really sizeable total against Worcestershire.

They've not really gone searching for the fifth batting point, despite beginning the day just 40 runs short of it with 10 overs remaining, but Harvey Hosein continues to look in really good touch on 74 not out.

  16. Postpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Lancashire 269-9 v Northamptonshire

A breakthrough for Northamptonshire at Old Trafford and it's just what their bowlers deserve after limiting the hosts to five runs in the first five overs.

Saqib Mahmood gets a Tom Taylor short ball all wrong, chipping it straight to Nathan Buck at fine leg.

Mahmood falls for 20. Matthew Parkinson is in at 11.

  17. new ball

New ballpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Surrey v Leicestershire 239-3

It's been hard work for Surrey's bowlers so far in this match on a good pitch at The Oval.

Sam Evans has been the star of the show for Leicestershire - he's still there on 113 not out from 247 balls - while Lewis Hill is currently keeping him company on 31.

But Kemar Roach has the second new ball in his hands now... will it yield some much-needed wickets for the Brown Caps?

    Essex 96 v Durham 158-8

    Simon HarmerImage source, Rex Features

Speaking of collapses, 18 wickets fell in total on a remarkable opening day at Chelmsford.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat Essex were bowled out for only 96. And, with Durham coasting along at 98-1 in reply, it looked like the reigning county champions were in big trouble.

But spinner Simon Harmer took four wickets to reduce Durham to 148-8 before the close.

Can Essex polish off the tail quickly this morning to keep the game very much alive?

    Somerset 312 v Gloucestershire 28-0

You sense this could be a big morning for local rivals Somerset and Gloucestershire.

Having negotiated a tricky three-over spell last night, visiting openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Chris Dent have already added 15 to their overnight total to reach 28-0.

Remember, the last time these teams met at Taunton Gloucestershire were skittled for 76 and 70.

  20. Postpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Kent v Yorkshire 362-9

Just the start Kent needed as Yorkshire go nine down.

Skipper Steven Patterson is caught at cover off the bowling of Matthew Milnes who now has a three-for.

Duanne Olivier is the last man in.
