  1. Teapublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Lancashire 305 v Northamptonshire 144-8

It feels like it's been a week of good ninth-wicket stands.

Adam Rossington and Simon Kerrigan have joined that club this afternoon, putting on an unbroken partnership of 57 to keep Northants competitive in this match.

Still a lot of work to do, though.

  2. Teapublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Derbyshire 390 v Worcestershire 135-5

Right on the stroke of tea and Brett D'Oliveira is caught by Wayne Madsen off the bowling of Matthew Critchley for 27.

The players walk off. Advantage Derbyshire.

  3. Teapublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Somerset 312 v Gloucestershire 189-6

This match still remains very evenly poised at tea.

With James Bracey still not out on 79 Gloucestershire will be hopeful of getting up to Somerset's first-innings 312, but the hosts know a quick wicket or two after tea and that target will suddenly seem a long way off.

  4. Postpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Surrey 83-2 v Leicestershire 375

Hashim Amla's 40-run partnership with Rory Burns is over as the former South Africa batsman is dismissed lbw by Gavin Griffiths, who now has 2-21.

Ollie Pope joins England team-mate Burns out in the middle.

    There's no doubting it's a star-studded line-up for Surrey.

  5. Teapublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Essex 96 & 85-2 v Durham 259

    Dan LawrenceImage source, Rex Features

That's tea. Two wickets in the afternoon session with Essex staging a bit of a fightback.

Dan Lawrence (46 not out) and Tom Westley (22 not out) survive, but the hosts still find themselves 78 runs off making Durham bat again.

  6. Postpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Derbyshire 390 v Worcestershire 126-4

Breakthrough for Derbyshire as Tom Fell is pinned leg before for 69 by Sam Conners.

That ends a nice little 58-run partnership between Fell and Brett D'Oliveira (18). Riki Wessels is the new man in. Derbyshire's lead is 264.

  7. Postpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Hampshire 319 & 2-2 v Middlesex 79

Oh boy, an even bigger glimmer of hope!

Ethan Bamber strikes this time, having Tom Alsop caught behind without scoring, and Hampshire's momentum is waning somewhat.

  8. Teapublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Glamorgan 285 v Sussex 340-6

Tea at Sophia Gardens with Goerge Garton (30 not out) and Ollie Robinson (8 not out) blocking out the final few deliveries.

This session has been all about Stiaan van Zyl though, with the Sussex batsman reaching a delightful 109 off 153 balls.

  9. Teapublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Nottinghamshire 273 v Warwickshire 199-6

We're breaking for tea at Trent Bridge.

Three wickets in the session for Nottinghamshire, with Warwickshire a run under 200.

Still no sign of Dom Sibley who hasn't batter for the Bears yet. Warwickshire announced he'd fractured a finger earlier and is a doubt for the rest of this game.

  10. Postpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Hampshire 319 & 1-1 v Middlesex 79

Hampshire decided not to enforce the follow on... and now they've lost a wicket inside the opening four overs.

Joe Weatherley is the man to fall, caught by Martin Andersson off the bowling of Toby Roland-Jones.

Just a glimmer of hope for the visitors.

  11. Postpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Kent 157-6 v Yorkshire 379

And there's also a key wicket for Yorkshire too as Jordan Thompson has Ollie Robinson caught behind for 44.

Grant Stewart joins Darren Stevens (31 not out) in the middle.

Kent still trail by 222 runs with four wickets remaining.

  12. wicket

WICKET Van Zyl (b Van der Gugten c Cooke) 109published at 15:36 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Glamorgan 285 v Sussex 326-6

    Big wicket.

Glamorgan captain and keeper Chris Cooke takes a great grab diving to his left to remove Stiaan van Zyl off the bowling of Timm van der Gugten.

A great knock from the Sussex number three finishes with 109 runs from 153 deliveries with 16 fours.

Sussex's lead is 41 runs with four wickets remaining. Can they push that past three figures?

  13. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Surrey 60-1 v Leicestershire 375

With Mark Stoneman having departed for 24, Hashim Amla has joined Rory Burns at the crease.

Two batsmen with bucket loads of international experience, they'll be hoping to provide the key partnership for Surrey.

Alastair: Got to enforce the follow on for me. Huge lead already, all about the psychology. Brilliant by Hampshire's bowlers

Toby: Having Abbas and Abbott as your opening bowling partnership in April is like playing in cheat mode! Beautiful to watch!

  15. Postpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Somerset 312 v Gloucestershire 177-6

James Bracey, with 68 from 138 deliveries, is very much holding this Gloucestershire innings together now.

Ryan Higgins (23) and George Hankins (four) have both been dismissed in the last few minutes, leaving the visitors still 134 runs behind with only four wickets in hand.

  16. wicket

Middlesex 79 all outpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

Middlesex's innings has come to a fairly abrupt end. In fact, the whole thing was fairly abrupt.

Brad Wheal polishes off the tail to end with 3-9, although Mohammad Abbas' figures of 6-11 - including the entire top six batsmen - is obviously the stand-out performance.

The next discussion was around whether Hampshire, leading by 240 runs, would follow-on - and they've decided not to. They'll bat again.

  17. 100 runs

    Glamorgan 285 v Sussex 322-5

A brilliant knock from Stiaan van Zyl who brings up his 28th First-class century in 146 balls with 14 fours.

The ship has well and truly been steadied after a little wobble with van Zyl sharing a 50-run partnership with George Garton (28 not out) to take Sussex into a deserved lead.

  18. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Derbyshire 390 v Worcestershire 98-3

Worcestershire have responded well in the afternoon session and are closing in on three figures thanks to a fine display from Tom Fell.

The number three has moved onto 61 from 123 balls, striking 12 fours in his innings so far.

  19. Postpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 16 April 2021

    Kent 151-5 v Yorkshire 379

Better from Kent as Darren Stevens (28 not out) and Ollie Robinson (43 not out) have counter-attacked brilliantly in their 50-run sixth-wicket stand.

Yorkshire skipper Steve Patterson has handed the ball back to his opening bowlers David Willey and Duanne Olivier to try to break this partnership.

  20. wicket

    Nottinghamshire 273 v Warwickshire 176-6

    Nottinghamshire celebrateImage source, Rex Features

The beginning of the end for Warwickshire?

Liam Patterson-White was brilliant with the bat yesterday and now he gets a key wicket with the ball, trapping Bears' Sam Hain for 72.

Tim Bresnan joins Michael Burgess (23 not out) in the middle for Warwickshire.
