  2. wicket

Lancashire all out for 525published at 16:37 British Summer Time 23 April 2021

    Bailey c Crawley b Leaning 47 (Kent v Lancs 525)

Tom Bailey is snaffled by Zak Crawley just short of his half-century and Lancashire's first innings comes to a conclusion.

248-7 to 525 all out is some recovery. It helps when your number eight and nine both make centuries!

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 23 April 2021

    Lamb b Siddle 47 (Warwickshire 193-8 v Essex)

Peter Siddle takes his third wicket - and his second in four deliveries - as he bowls Matt Lamb.

Craig Miles comes in to join Danny Briggs, with only last man Oliver Hannon-Dalby to come.

The Bears still trail by over 100 on first innings - and in the face of probably the best four-man attack in county cricket, they would not be expected to get too many more.

Could they at least last long enough to claim a precious batting point?

  4. Surrey lose Stoneman earlypublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 23 April 2021

    Middlesex 268 v Surrey 154 & 16-1

Ethan Bamber has just taken a wicket for Middlesex, removing Surrey opener Mark Stoneman lbw.

The visitors still trail by 98 at Lord's.

Peter Siddle nips in for a second wicket as Warwickshire lose their seventh batsman.

After just four scoring shots, all boundaries, Olly Stone is gone for 16, leg before wicket - the first of the innings after several very loud, unanswered shouts.

Matt Lamb still there though on 47. But for how long?

  6. Notts make tidy startpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 23 April 2021

It brings England Test captain Joe Root to the crease.

  9. 'Somerset build useful lead'published at 16:17 British Summer Time 23 April 2021

    Tea: Leics 233 v Somerset 305-8

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Somerset

A long, hot afternoon session, in which Somerset have taken a useful lead thanks to determined and stylish contributions from Tom Abell, George Bartlett and Steven Davies.

Davies seems to enjoy batting against Leicestershire, averaging as he does 58 against them in his previous 15 encounters.

Craig Overton contributed usefully as well, as the Leicestershire bowlers plugged away, acting captain Callum Parkinson - Colin Ackerrmann being off the field after being hit in the face at slip this morning - picking up two wickets as his left arm spin found occasional turn and lift, something that will not have been lost on Jack Leach.

  10. Yorkshire lose a wicketpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 23 April 2021

    Sussex 221 v Yorkshire 150 & 90-1

It's all going on at Hove.

Adam Lyth is dropped on 63, then two balls later Tom Kohler-Cadmore is stumped off Jack Carson for 21.

  11. Postpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 23 April 2021

Rory Burns and Mark Stoneman get Surrey's second innings under way after tea at Lord's.

They face a deficit of 114.

  12. Lancs break records at Canterburypublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 23 April 2021

    Tea: Kent v Lancashire 494-8

    Scott Read
    BBC North West cricket commentator

Records are tumbling at Canterbury as Danny Lamb and Luke Wood set a new county record eighth wicket partnership for Lancashire, of 187.

Wood made a career-best 119 while Lamb is still going on 114 not out.

It's Lamb’s maiden first-class century - and also the first time in over 40 years that a number 8 and 9 have both scored centuries in the same innings for Lancashire.

That was John Lyon and Bob Ratcliffe, who set the previous Lancashire best eighth-wicket stand of 158 against Warwickshire at Old Trafford in July 1979.

Only one wicket has fallen so far on the second day.

  14. 'Rossington halts slide'published at 16:08 British Summer Time 23 April 2021

    Tea: Northants 130-5 v Glamorgan 407

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Northants captain Adam Rossington has halted the slide for his side, dominating a half-century stand with Saif Zaib after they slumped to 78-5.

The honours have been shared round the Glamorgan bowlers with afternoon wickets for loanee James Harris, new recruit James Weighell and Dan Douthwaite.

Only Ben Curran got going among the top order, but he fell for 36 to continue his habit of getting out in the thirties.

Earlier Chris Cooke was last out for 136, his second best Championship score, as the lower order added useful runs to take the visitors past 400.
